Global Culture Fair
After two years of COVID, the Global Culture Fair once again dazzled the community of BG with its rich presentation of the many different cultures and nationalities at BG.
The Global Culture Fair is hosted by the IB students and is an exciting event that many students and teachers look forward to. A celebration of culture, the fair also provides the entire community at BG with an opportunity to engage with and learn about the more than 50 different nationalities represented at BG.
As per tradition, the fair started with a fashion show showcasing different national costumes from all over the world, followed by a large fair complete with booths manned by the students displaying artefacts and treats.
The international community at BG prepare days in advance cooking up various selections of traditional foods to share with their fellow students. As Danish and international students walk around Samlingssalen, they engage in a conversation about culture and tradition and often make new friends along the way. Every year the first year students from the Danish STX-line complete an assignment about the fair as part of their curriculum, marrying the meeting of cultures with academic investigation and writing.
The Global Culture Fair seeks to provide the students of BG with the chance to cross borders and engage in an international discussion, fostering empathy and international understanding and curiosity. The fair is a true manifestation of BG’s motto: one school, one community, and it is a strong and important tradition loved by students and teachers alike.
