The mantis can turn its head over 180 degrees. This allows her to observe her own back.
02
The mantis is a carnivore. It is a patient predator and waits still for its prey. It follows it with its head and then attacks quickly and lethally.

The mantis captures its prey with its powerful front paws, which are extended at a speed imperceptible to the human eye.
The front legs, which appear to be in a “prayer” position, are equipped with thorns with which the mantis hooks the prey.

PRAYING MANTIS The female praying mantis measures about 7.5 cm in length and is larger than the male (6 cm). It has an elongated thorax and two long antennae protruding from the head. Its front legs always seem to be in a praying position. The colours can vary from green to brown and is an excellent camouflage tool. The green colour depends on the presence of a lot of vegetation. A more brownish hue denotes more straw or grain. The mantis therefore camouflages itself very well in its habitat and is very difficult to see.
