In line with Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco’s commitment to healthy lifestyles, members engage in structured and unstructured play time. Staff are trained to facilitate games, activities, and sports so kids have fun and build a strong appreciation for physical activity.
We build in time during the summer for youth to explore the outdoors and local attractions with joy and freedom. These experiences facilitate and encourage new and important discoveries.
Programming blends daily enrichment across many content areas. Popular activities include STEAM, arts, and crafts, cooking, community service opportunities, and wellness activities.
Each of our Clubhouses have some programmatic areas that are unique to their location. For more information on specific Clubhouse program highlights visit www.kidsclub.org/Clubs
Club-specific highlights include:
Classes in acting, musical theater, dance, and performance for youth of all ages.
Through drawing, painting, photography, and more, youth learn to use visual art as a lens into their own lives and a tool to affect positive change.
Our comprehensive swim program offers affordable, high-quality, and safe water smart classes, recreational swim, learnto-swim classes, and competitive swim.
At several locations, members stay busy in our onsite gardens. Youth take turns watering, spreading compost, and maintaining various plants and flowers. They also harvest their own fruit and vegetables!
Community partners are a big part of our Club offerings! Partnerships differ from Club to Club. Sample partnerships include:
Club members have access to highquality music studios where they can work with professional music instructors to learn a new instrument and write and record music.
Every summer, Major League Baseball brings the Junior Giants program to Club members giving them the chance to experience the joys of baseball, be active outdoors, build new friendships, and learn good sportsmanship.
Youth participate in surf lessons! In addition to building that specific skill, this also gives them the opportunity to practice mindfulness, empowerment, and exposure to the ocean.
Our skilled and caring staff instill a sense of competency and belonging, while ensuring that every child feels valued, heard, and understood. We invest heavily in recruitment, background checks, and training to ensure that only well-qualified and highly-skilled mentors are supporting youth at all times.
Our state-of-the-art facilities inspire and motivate youth to reach their full potential. We understand that young people must feel safe and supported in order to thrive. Our Clubs are designed and programmed to be physically and emotionally safe places for kids and staff — all day, every day.
We create a second home for youth who all have a strong sense that their Club belongs to them. This sense of ownership and pride builds confidence and ensures that all youth know that their Clubhouse is a place where they belong and will always be supported.
Behavioral Health Services is an essential component of our holistic approach to youth development.
Our team of Behavioral Health Specialists:
• Prioritize wellness activities, regular mental health check-ins, and early interventions
• Share coping strategies
• Lead behavioral health training for all Club staff
• Provide individual and family therapy at no cost to families
