Across Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore, hundreds of youth and teens spent their summer learning, creating, competing, exploring and building friendships. They walked through our doors in communities across Baltimore City, Howard County, Cambridge and Salisbury—and found people ready to believe in them.

Because summer is a season when confidence can grow, new possibilities can take shape and a young person can begin to see their future differently.

THE STORIES WE CARRY Behind every statistic is a member and an adult who showed up for them.

On August 19, team members from across Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore gathered at the Ravens Club to reflect on the summer, reconnect with one another and prepare for the year ahead. During a storytelling workshop, staff members were invited to share moments of impact from their Clubs. What unfolded was a powerful reminder that the heart of this organization lives in its people—and in the stories they carry with them.

They shared stories of young people who found the courage to try something new. Children who arrived quietly and, over time, began to speak up, participate and feel that they belonged. Teens who accepted real responsibility and discovered that others trusted them to lead. Young people who found safety, friendship and adults who believed in them. Around the room, there were tears, embraces and quiet moments of recognition. Staff members understood what each story represented: the patience it took to earn a child’s trust, the consistency required to help them grow and the countless small interactions that made those breakthroughs possible.

Programs create opportunities. Partnerships open doors. But it is the people who walk through those doors every day—with patience, heart and an unwavering belief in what is possible—who bring the mission to life.

Sometimes, impact begins with one good day—a day when a young person feels safe, included and capable. One good day becomes a good week. A good week becomes a summer filled with growth. And sometimes, that summer can help change the direction of a life.

This summer, our staff carried hundreds of stories home with them. Stories of courage, belonging, discovery and joy.

Together, those stories tell the larger story of Boys & Girls Clubs: what can happen when a young person has a safe place, a caring adult and a community that believes in their future.

The heart of this organization is its people—and the stories they carry with them.

ONE FLOCK. ONE UNFORGETTABLE SUMMER FEST. More than 400 campers from nine BGCMB summer camps came together at the Baltimore Ravens Boys & Girls Club for Summer Fest.

Across eight activity zones, our corporate partners helped bring the experience to life. Planet Fitness led kickball and flag football; Full Sail Media inspired collaborative art; RSM powered foam-filled fun in the Splash Zone; Wellpoint created space for yoga and relaxation; and Comcast volunteers brought energy to the dance floor. Bozzuto led carnival games, Sysco helped Club members cool down with Kona Ice, and Wawa, Wendy’s and Vulcan helped provide meals for hundreds of young people.

Together, our partners and volunteers created more than a memorable celebration. They gave Club kids opportunities to try something new, build confidence and experience the joy of belonging to one BGCMB community.

THE FUTURE SOUNDS GOOD Brent Faiyaz and Faiyaz Freedom to Breathe Foundation brought a live studio session to Summer Fest, giving Club members the chance to create alongside Brent, his engineer and producer. The experience uncovered real Baltimore talent—and reminded young people to keep creating, keep dreaming and keep believing in what their voices can become.

BEHIND THE BLUE DOORS At the Ravens Club, our first summer together created countless moments of possibility.

For Ayden, opportunity meant stepping behind the lens. He shadowed professional photographers at Ravens Training Camp, transforming his passion for photography into an unforgettable career experience.

For a group of young entrepreneurs, it looked like building BMORE Than Lemonade—learning how to develop and operate a business while raising money for causes they selected themselves.

Every Friday, Dads on the Grill brought male mentors together to prepare lunch for summer campers. They served more than food; they offered conversation, connection and the presence of positive role models.

Creativity also left a permanent mark. Club members worked together to design a collaborative mural that will become part of the Ravens Club—a lasting reflection of their ideas, identities and shared sense of belonging.

Beyond the Club, 11 Ravens teens expanded their horizons through trips to Washington, D.C., for the Summit for America’s Youth and Orlando for the National Keystone Conference. They returned with new experiences, broader perspectives and a deeper understanding of their own potential.

Together, these moments tell the story of a summer spent creating, leading, exploring and giving back.

Because America needs photographers, entrepreneurs, artists and leaders—and they are growing up right now at the Ravens Club.

CLUB KIDS TAKE THE LEAD Howard County Club members closed the summer as creators, performers and leaders.

On August 7, young people and families gathered for the Howard County Summer Showcase: The Innovation Expo—a celebration of everything Club members had learned, created and accomplished throughout camp.

Hosted by Dhontae, HCC’s 2026 Youth of the Year, and Genesis, Harper’s 2026 Junior Youth of the Year, the showcase placed young people at the center of the experience.

Club members brought Alice in Wonderland to the stage, presented discoveries during a science fair, shared original work in an art gallery walk and transformed recycled materials into creative designs for a “Trashion Show.”

PARTNERSHIPS OPEN DOORS Throughout the summer, Police & Sneaks visited our Clubs each week to surprise a young person with a new pair of sneakers. Each visit created an opportunity for encouragement, conversation and connection between Club members and law enforcement. Police & Sneaks, a program of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Baltimore, uses sneakers to open the door—but it is the relationships built along the way that change lives.

But some of the afternoon’s most powerful moments came at the end, when Leaders in Training stepped forward to reflect on their summer. In exceptional speeches, they shared what community and leadership had come to mean to them—speaking with honesty, confidence and a clear understanding that leadership is not simply a title. It is how we show up for others, contribute to something larger than ourselves and help create a place where everyone belongs.

The Innovation Expo gave youth and teens the opportunity to recognize their own growth and share their voices with the community that helped make it possible.
