LET THE Adventure BEGIN BOWLING GREEN MUNICIPAL UTILITIES

Bowling Green Municipal Utilities provides high-speed data services, safe and reliable electric service, and award-winning water and wastewater treatment services. Our Electric Division serves a population of about 50,000 within city limits, and we take pride in maintaining the highest Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3®) status from the American Public Power Association for providing customers with the highest degree of reliable, safe electric service.

BGMU treats water from the Barren River and pumps it to five elevated water storage tanks. Our plant expansion is nearly complete, increasing plant capacity to 45 million gallons of water per day and ensuring we can meet the demands of Warren County’s growth. This system includes over 290 miles of mains. BGMU also maintains over 270 miles of sewer mains and can treat 12 million gallons of wastewater per day. From the water you drink to the toilet you flush, we’ve got you covered!

BGMU’s Fiber Optic Division has served the community since 2001 and provides telephone, internet, and point-to-point services for area businesses over an all-fiber network with 24/7 support and an uptime rating greater than 99.99%. We recognize that in today’s fast-paced world, staying connected is critical and that businesses need a customized approach to impact their bottom line. We help customers find their best solution.

Our vision is to be customer-focused in all we do, and we are more committed than ever to helping our community. We recently launched a Customer Experience Council, an internal group of employees who meet quarterly to formulate ways we can give our customers the best experience possible – whether they are calling about a bill, applying for service or requesting assistance at their home or business. The focus of the group is to help fellow employees keep customer service at the heart of every interaction.

In 2023, we’re redesigning customer bills, so they are both easy to read and understand. We’re also improving our website to help users efficiently find information.

We are committed to helping schools and non-profits, such as United Way and Hope House, meet the needs of the community. We continue to participate in United Way’s Day of Caring each summer and collected hundreds of gifts for Hope House’s Affordable Christmas program in 2022. BGMU is a not-for-profit utility provider; we invest in our infrastructure to ensure stability and reliability for future generations. We invest in our community for the same reasons.

We are proud to live in Bowling Green and Warren County and are even prouder to serve here.
