People
Warren County’s residents are the heart of the community and essential to the County’s success. Recently, Warren County Parks and Recreation’s Executive Director Chris Kummer’s dedication and commitment to Warren County was recognized when he was awarded the Fellow Award by the Kentucky Recreation and Parks Society. This award recognizes outstanding contributions to the recreation profession. Chris and his team are responsible for the implementation of Warren County’s plans to create spaces for recreational and outdoor adventures, and he is an example of one of the amazing people in Warren County who work tirelessly to improve our community.

Warren County has something for everyone searching for adventure! You can enjoy car races at Beech Bend Park, orchestra performances at SKyPAC, festivals highlighting the rich and diverse cultures of our residents, and local restaurants showcasing regional and ethnic dishes, beers, and whiskey that will inspire every foodie’s palate! Ecotourists and local outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy recreational activity on the 185 miles of waterways within Warren County by boating, kayaking, fishing, tubing, or hiking along the blueway system that has 32 river access points!
Over the last several years Warren County has implemented programs and projects that created outdoor ice skating, adaptive outdoor water sports, and the multipurpose sports complex at Michael O. Buchanan Park which includes six indoor tennis courts, six outdoor courts, an indoor playground, and four racquetball courts. This facility opened in November of 2021 and was named as the United States Tennis Association’s 2022 Kentucky Facility of the Year Award. There is more to come with the construction of a dual slalom and mini-skills bike course in the near future!
