SCHOOL PROFILE 2021-2022 Mission and Vision Bishop Fenwick is a Catholic, co-educational, academically rigorous and supportive college preparatory school. Bishop Fenwick is dedicated to creating an environment where all students can seek and achieve excellence intellectually, creatively, morally, and spiritually, recognizing their responsibility both to serve and to lead.

Bishop Fenwick graduates will enter the world prepared, inspired, and able to excel in all they do, embracing the call to love God and neighbor.

FENWICK AT A GLANCE Fenwick is a Catholic, college preparatory, coeducational high school located on a 59-acre campus, 19 miles north of Boston.

An entrance exam is required for admission and course placement.

Fenwick serves the North Shore of Boston and surrounding areas, drawing students from over 47 communities, and two countries.

Sixty six percent of the teaching faculty have advanced degrees, three of whom have doctorates.

There are currently 467 students enrolled in grades 9-12.

Students have access and opportunity to 33 Clubs and 26 Interscholastic sports Fenwick is accredited by the New England Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges.

In February of 2020, as we all learned the Coronavirus was spreading across the globe, Bishop Fenwick was already preparing for its impact. The faculty and staff at Bishop Fenwick immediately began planning for the possibility of delivering remote instruction on the horizon. A professional in-service day was set for March 16 and leading up to that date, everyone became familiar with the technologies, safety protocols, and other socioeducational considerations needed to make a successful transition. We kept students at the center of our focus, working to provide high quality online teaching and learning. When it became necessary to close the campus on March 13 and move all classes to a virtual platform, the faculty was ready. All Fenwick classes resumed with fulltime online instruction on Wednesday, March 18, with a consistent schedule and a robust program. The spring semester was completed online as originally scheduled and official letter grades were given for all classes for all academic terms of the 2019-20 school year.

Following the advice of health care and public policy experts, Bishop Fenwick instituted a trimester schedule beginning in the 2020-21 academic year. The 2021-22 school year opened successfully with all students and faculty on campus in person every day. Masking and social distancing are required in school, but otherwise we are slowly returning to a more familiar day to day paradigm.

Graduation Requirements:

Special Programs Dual Enrollment Program — Dual Enrollment courses are offered by Endicott College. Endicott professors instruct

the courses on site at Fenwick, utilizing regular Endicott College course syllabi. College credits earned through dual enrollment can be simultaneously applied toward high school and college graduation and be transferred to other colleges and universities.

Virtual High School —Virtual High School (VHS) is a collaborative of high schools from around the world that

contribute online courses for students from member schools. Students may apply to take a VHS course, provided the course meets the standards of Bishop Fenwick, is not offered at Fenwick, and the student meets the prerequisites of the course. Courses are leveled ranging from AP, Honors, and College Prep.Students are screened and must have department approval. VHS courses are considered “independent study”.

Senior Service — As a Christian community, Bishop Fenwick is committed to fostering in its students a special love

and concern for the poor and those in need in the world. Each class participates in a retreat day that includes a service component. Senior Service is a culminating opportunity for students to understand, reflect, develop and recognize the value and dignity of every person. All Senior Service Projects must be a minimum of 40 hours and meet the requirements of and be approved by Campus Ministry as an appropriate volunteer service project. Senior Service is a graduation requirement.
