For the third time in our School’s history, we exceeded the $1M mark in total fundraising! Through robust annual giving, along with critical investment in capital projects, Fenwick generated over $1.4M in philanthropic support! This milestone is powerful testimony to the upward trajectory of Bishop Fenwick and to the positive vibe of our entire community.
The highlights of the past year, like the number of gifts we received, are plentiful: Fenwick’s 65th Anniversary Gala: In honoring the incomparable Ralph LeDuc, we set a record for attendees and proceeds! Ralph’s words that night echo in our minds and hearts: Make a call. Send a donation Support the School After all, it’s the three F’s that matter most: Faith, Family, and Fenwick
Fenwick’s Day of Giving: Led by the All-Crusaders’ Challenge set forth by Walter Darrah ’04, and fueled by everything from matching gifts to reunion contributions, Fenwick set new standards for participation (653 donations) and fundraising ($150K)
Fenwick’s Golf Tournament: Because of popular demand for this trademark event, held in conjunction with St Mary of the Annunciation (Danvers), the tournament had two sessions –morning and afternoon – and welcomed over 175 golfers!
From Class Reunions to Parent Gatherings, from the Senior Class Gift to the Athletic Hall of Fame, we saw record engagement! The latter event was particularly moving, as we inducted the 1973 Boys’ Cross Country Team, Nancy Fox ’85, Pat Downey ’92, Jennifer Mackey-LaBreque ’98, Jonathan Hayes ’04, Bridget Dullea ’09, and Shawn Carlson ’17. We also wish to thank our Alumni Board and our Parents’ Council for their leadership in raising the bar.
Your generosity makes a difference. It provides the tangibles: financial aid for deserving students, improved compensation for exemplary teachers, a deep and broad academic curriculum, an array of offerings in the arts and athletics, and the necessary investments in our 60-acre campus It also nourishes the intangibles: our community spirit, our feeling of family, and our genuine sense of belonging Because of your support, we continue to advance our mission, to strengthen our school, and to transform the lives of a new generation of Crusaders

Welcome to our Annual Report! We take this moment to extend our gratitude and to share our joy Together, we are forming and transforming Fenwick’s future!
On behalf of our entire Fenwick Family, we express our deep and profound appreciation to each of you for helping us to achieve unparalleled success. We had yet another recordbreaking year, with over $1 4M in philanthropic support! This is only possible because of you Thank you!
The 2023-24 academic year was a remarkable one for Bishop Fenwick, highlighted by a wonderfully positive NEASC accreditation and by dramatically impactful upgrades to our campus
Regarding the NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges) accreditation, Fenwick completed the decennial process with flying colors! The Visiting Team was impressed by our faculty and staff; one member noted, “You have so many glass-half-full people here!” They were amazed by our students who were welcoming, engaging, friendly, and focused; our students are our finest ambassadors. They were struck by the quality of our student experience and by the depth of our academic program, as evidenced by the commendations in these key areas. Most of all, they were impressed by how we live our mission They awarded us the highest rating for that standard, and as one Visiting Team member shared, “People are not just from Fenwick; they are Fenwick.”

Our 60-acre property is one of the most unique and valuable assets of our school, and we are making the most of it Please stop by and check out these amazing improvements!
Juffre Plaza: Honoring veteran teacher, proud parent, and Fenwick enthusiast Judith Juffre P’90, ’91, ’95, GP’23, with a major gift from Jay Juffre ’90, this plaza creates a stunning entrance to Crusader Square and provides a beautiful spot for relaxing before, during, and after school
Light Poles and Banners: Our entire frontage on Margin Street now has 10 light poles with Fenwick banners, spaced 75’ apart, to accentuate the front of the school and to let everyone know that Fenwick is a vibrant and vital place
Safety and Security: With over $70,000 in funding from the Commonwealth FY24 Nonprofit Security Grant Program, we upgraded our security system with dozens of new cameras throughout the buildings and a fob entry system for our main doors.
Chris’ Place: Rededicated last spring in honor of Christine O’Donnell ‘86 this completely renovated Courtyard serves as an outdoor classroom, a gathering spot for special events and alumni reunions, and a place of friendship, conversation, and community for all.
Our artists were featured at the Crane Estate Art Show, the Marblehead Arts Association, and the MA Scholastic Art Competition, and our photographers were privileged to take photos at the huge Catholic Schools Foundation Dinner in Boston With the help of professional artist Patrick Freeman ‘99, they even painted a piano for Crusader Square
Our thespians performed superbly in the fall musical, Mary Poppins, and in the Dramafest piece, Agatha the Ugly; the student-directed one-act plays were also fantastic The Band and Choir Concerts were a real treat, and everyone enjoyed the annual Arts Night!
Our DECA Team competed at the local and regional level, with many students qualifying for the state competition, two running for statewide office, three state finalists, one state champion, and one international Top 10 winner! These budding entrepreneurs are outstanding
Our athletic program included outstanding seasons for Football, Girls’ Basketball, and many other teams There were numerous noteworthy individual performances in Cross Country, Track, Wrestling, and more Fenwick boasted a President’s Memorial Award for a football player and a McDonald’s AllAmerican Nomination for a girls’ basketball player
Student Spirit was alive and well – and not just during Spirit Week! From the Homecoming Dance to the Door Decorating, from the Pep Rallies to the Class Skits, the energy and enthusiasm of our students was amazing That spirit was also revealed in how students supported each other for Math Mondays and as Peer Tutors
Through myriad clubs and activities, our Crusaders pursued their passions and served our community. Whether it was hosting a Multicultural Dinner in the Café or competing in Ethics Circle at St. Anselm College, whether it was NHS students taking the Polar Plunge or Women’s Leadership and Best Buddies sponsoring a Christmas party for struggling families, our students made the most of their opportunities at Fenwick.
We also hosted two new programs! Through a grant from the JB ThomasLahey Foundation, and with experts from nationally recognized Minding Your Mind, we sponsored a Mental and Emotional Health Awareness Week. Guest speakers addressed students, parents, and faculty and staff, and everyone learned about the resources that exist to support our personal wellbeing.
In partnership with local fire, police, and emergency personnel, we brought to campus an Impaired/Distracted Driving Presentation that featured a live reenactment of a fatal car accident Our student actors were very convincing, the first responders were powerfully engaging, and the whole program was highly impactful
The year was marked by strong student engagement Our Crusaders shared their inspiring Fenwick Connect Speeches with our Board, Alumni Board, and Parents’ Council, with honored guests at dedications and celebrations, and with our entire student body during Catholic Schools Week and at special assemblies These young women and men are finding their voice – in the classroom, on field, on the stage, and at Fenwick Connect
As you read in the letter from Neil and Peter, our alumni and parent engagement reached new heights! From Fall Fest to the Christmas Party, from Giving Day to the Golf Tournament, we saw record numbers of alumni and current/former parents connect with Fenwick. The highlight of the year was our 65th Anniversary Gala, honoring Mr. Fenwick, Ralph LeDuc! We had a recordbreaking crowd to celebrate the occasion, and we raised nearly $200K for scholarship assistance and school programs The exhilarating feeling that night was palpable Fenwick is on the move!
The Fenwick Family was there for each other in moments of triumph and tragedy, in moments of success and suffering From marking the one-year anniversary of Emily’s passing with a special Mass, to welcoming two students into the Church with liturgies in our Chapel, we came together –and we prayed together. As evidenced by students experiencing the Encounter Retreat and class retreats, and alumni gathering for life’s pivotal moments, from weddings to wakes, the Fenwick Family is real. The bonds of Fenwick traverse the miles and transcend the years.
Thank you for your faithful, selfless commitment to our mission of providing a dynamic, holistic, student-centered, and faith-filled experience for the next generation of Crusaders Thank you for investing in our program and, most of all, for supporting of our people—the heart of Fenwick By funding student scholarships and enhancing teacher salaries, you are making a difference
Thank you, most importantly, for your witness of stewardship and leadership. By building our culture of philanthropy, you set an example that inspires all of us in the Fenwick Family. As donors, benefactors, and volunteers, you understood that Fenwick needed you. Together, your response reflects the pride of Fenwick’s history and the promise of Fenwick’s future.

As we mark the end of our successful high school journey, I invite us to reflect on the people that have led us to this joyous celebration. Whether they are friends, family, teachers, or coaches, we all have individuals in our lives who act as pillars of support and guidance. Lastly, I would like to express thanks to my fellow graduates. Every day of high school, we make memories and push each other to excel, in and out of the classroom. Our senior class would not be the same without each and every one of you. As my last announcement to the senior class, I want to close by saying have a grateful graduation Fenwick! We have come a long way, and let’s not forget to take a step back and remember the people that got us here.

By developing good, close friendships, I have learned that while it’s crucial to try your best in school, at the end of the day, what ultimately become good memories are the experiences with people close to you Coming from the salutatorian who actually likes school, I believe that ten years from now I won’t be thinking about my final grade in Biology, but rather about all the time spent playing basketball, going out to eat, watching sports, driving around listening to music, and, admittedly, goofing off in class with my friends Lasting friendships are more than just time together; they pick you up when you’re feeling down and elevate you when you’re feeling good It’s the satisfaction we find in connecting with others and the sense of belonging that we have at Fenwick that will be stamped in our memories forever

We must strive for greatness as a demonstration of our gratitude We should pursue a life where we return the talents God has given us We should never “just get along” or be satisfied with mediocrity Let’s aim for greatness without fear, in thanksgiving for the gifts we have received We shouldn’t hide these gifts; we are encouraged to “put out into the deep and let down your nets out for a catch ” This means we need to push ourselves to the limit, we need to travel paths previously untouched to get to the “deep end”, even when we are uncomfortable We should “go fishing”, not “surfing”! Too often we get stuck surfing through our phones, when instead, we should be searching for meaningful interactions This means engaging with the world without fear and with hopes to engage others - our friends, our families, and all those who come into contact with Bishop Fenwick graduates

FENWICK FIRST GIVING DAY
Fenwick’s Giving Day 2024 was one for the record books! Together, our Fenwick Community surpassed the goal of 600 gifts with an historic 653 gifts. We successfully unlocked $107,5000 in challenge funds and raised an additional $150,821 - thanks to the loyal Fenwick Family!
Walter Darrach ‘04, challenged the Fenwick Community to make 600 gifts by April 25, 2024 in order to unlock The All Crusader Challenge of $100,000!
Walter attended East Coast Aero Tech at Hanscom Field in Bedford, MA, and soon after moved to Texas in search of career opportunities, where he and his family have now called home for the last 18 years In 2009, Walter started his own aviation maintenance company that has since grown into a multifaceted aviation asset management and compliance company with an off shoot in airport property development Walter’s company now services customer and business assets across the country and internationally We thank Walter for his generosity, and wish him continued success with his aviation business!

The class of 2024 worked together for their Senior Class Gift and raised nearly $2,000! With their gift, the school purchased furniture for the newly renovated courtyard.
The Senior Class Gift Committee consisting of, Madison Faragi, Luke Connolly, Gianluca Sestito, Elizabeth Swanson, Cecilia Kay, and Michael Carter were selected as outstanding members of their class to lead their peers in the tradition of giving back.
