From the Director Dear Audiences, It is hard to believe that we are putting on a theatrical performance, when so many times this year it didn’t look like anything would happen. We are here and honestly, it feels like a miracle! Two shows were originally cast back in October: The Grimm Brothers Spectaculathon and Anne of Green Gables. When those two shows weren’t able to happen, the students rallied and quickly put together a night of studentdirected 10-minute plays in January. Those shows were so much fun and they were 100% safe since they were all performed over Zoom. If you missed those shows, they are up on our YouTube channel: Fenwick Performing Arts. (While you’re checking them out, be sure to subscribe!) Now, as great as that experience was, we still were all missing out on LIVE THEATER. After the winter, we attempted once again to put on the shows from the fall. The students and our production staff were so excited to get started, but to be able to do everything in such a short time, we decided to put on one show and recast almost all of the parts! And because we wanted as many people to have this theater experience as possible, we even made space for new actors who were not previously involved! Every student was going to get a part! It was a very ambitious goal, and I’m proud to say that we did it. Most of the students had to learn new lines and blocking in just four weeks, and some of our students had to learn new parts in just a couple of days! Some of our cast members happily volunteered to work doubleduty, working on stage crew, tech crew, and set painting. It was a true team effort, and everyone pitched in where help was needed! I’m so thankful to our students who really went above and beyond, and I have to mention our ever faithful seniors. This wasn’t the year any of us wanted for them, but they thrived this year! They thrived under the hardest of circumstances, working through their disappointment and struggles every day with smiles on their faces. I so wish we could have ended their high school careers with a huge splashy musical the way we planned, but I’m so 2thankful that we get to say our goodbyes with this show!

I also need to thank our production crew: Mr. Cox, Mr. Burke, Olivia, Tessa, Luci, and Kat. Another added challenge was that aside from Mr. Cox, the entire production staff was new to their role! It was our first time working together in this capacity, and they were amazing! It was only because of their collective hard work that we were able to get everything done in the short amount of time. I am also so thankful for our Fenwick administration who supported our program throughout this weird year, They were supportive of all my ideas and plans and we could not have done this without them. Mr. Nunan, Ms. Marquez, Mr. Dugan and Mr. Caniff, thank you for helping create a warm, nurturing environment that supports our students and their many different abilities, and thank you for supporting theater! I’m also thankful for our theater families who supported these students with all the changes! I know it must have been hard to navigate all the schedules and emails but your support means so much to the students and to me. We couldn’t have done these shows without you! Thank you, audience, for being here to watch this show, whether you’re online or in person! Your attendance proves to everyone how important the arts are. Although this is our last theater performance this year, we still have lots going on in the Fine Arts Department, so please follow us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/ fenwickperformingarts) or Instagram: @fenwickperformingarts so you can see all the great things we’re doing in the music department!

I hope you enjoy this production—it is silly and funny and we’ve had a blast putting it together. So for the next couple of hours, I hope we can transport you away from pandemics and vaccines and quarantines, to a land of make believe and fairy tales. We are excited to take you along for the journey! Enjoy the show! Warmly, Kellie Tropeano

Meet the Production Team! Olivia Avery (alumni, ‘16) is a recent graduate of Salem State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performance. Currently, she is working towards her Masters of Education at Merrimack College. Olivia recently opened Atlas Theatre Company with some college peers, and has practiced to become a “jack of all trades” in the theatre community. Recent performance credits include: Sophie Sheridan (“Mamma Mia!”), Wednesday Addams (“The Addams Family Musical”), CB’s Sister (“Dog Sees God”), as well as some short film credits. She received the 2019 Irene Ryan Acting Award nomination for her performance in SSU’s production of “Top Girls”. She would like to thank Nick Principi for his support of her endeavors and for his help on this BFHS production, and Dr. Tropeano for including her in the process!

Mr. Burke is the Fine Arts Department Chairperson at Fenwick and he teaches Drawing & Painting, Intro to Art, and Sculpture. This is Mr. Burke’s first show with Fenwick Theatre, but when he was at Pope John in Everett, he did scenic design for Little Shop of Horrors , Broadway Bound, and A Christmas Carol. In the summers, he is the Director of the Adventure Program at Running Brook Camp in Waltham. He is so grateful for the art students, from freshmen to seniors, who put their extra time and energy into the set. It came out even better that he imagined and he is so proud.

In addition to working on theatre tech for all events in the Fenwick auditorium, Mr. Cox is the director of the Fenwick Band. He is also a freelance musician, and recently performed in Scotland, as a featured soloist with the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

Luci Dugan graduated from Fenwick last year in the middle of the pandemic, and she has such fond memories of the theater and choral program. She played Ellie Blake in Freaky Friday and performed with Concert Choir, Select Choir, and Fenwick Falsettos. Now, she is a freshman at Salem State University studying psychology.

Katrina is a freshman this year and she is handling quite a bit in this show. She is the Assistant Director, Stage Manager, and she is playing the part of Witch 2. At her previous school, St. Mary’s in Danvers, she was in Seussical Jr and The Little Mermaid Jr. Her other after school activities include basketball, softball, select choir, and math league. Katrina wishes everyone in the cast good luck and hopes that you all enjoy the show.

Tessa Tropeano is a 2020 graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School. Last year she starred in the musical Freaky Friday as Katherine Blake. She was so grateful to be able to perform that show once and is glad to be back at Fenwick helping out. She is a freshman majoring in theater education at Bridgewater State University and she works part time at Extreme Craze in Woburn. She also is currently performing in Ladies Day with The Beverly Historical Society and she is playing Danielle in the Lin Manuel Miranda musical Bring it on, with Kids Coop Theatre in Derry, NH. She is very much looking forward to going to Bridgewater in the fall.

Dr. Kellie Tropeano has been the choral and theater director here at Bishop Fenwick since 2014. She has directed all the plays and musicals and The Grimm Brothers Spectaulathon is her 14th show here! She also directs the Bishop Fenwick High School Concert Choir and Select Choir. Dr. Tropeano also teaches at Salem State and directs a choir at Suffolk University. She is also the Director of Music and Worship at the First Baptist Church of Reading. Dr. T’s next project is directing a 10-minute play that she wrote for the Weston Friendly Society. Dr. Tropeano studied classical piano at Gordon College in Wenham. She has a Master’s degree in Education from Lesley University, and in 2013 she earned her doctorate in Worship Studies. She is so happy to work at a school where her passion for arts and faith can combine. Enjoy the show!

Meet our Seniors! Lily Brown ‘21 - Salem Hey there hot stuff!! Lily Brown is a wicked senior from Salem who is thrilled to be appearing in her final Fenwick show!! Beware as she returns to the stage as Little Red, the Cobbler Elf, and the Devil! Moo ah ha ha ha ha ha!! Some of her previous spectacular play roles include Captain in Bedtime Stories, Producer/Evil Mother in The Devil and Danielle Webster, Laura in Selfie, Ensemble member in #Censored, and Anne in Oy Vey Maria!! When Lily is not on the stage, she loves to read (Grimm stories), write (spectaculathons), sing, run cross country (in the dark and scary woods), play tennis, and work at Cookie Monstah. Next year, Lily will be majoring in Journalism at Emerson College!! She is so excited for everyone to see her last show, and she hopes you enjoy it! She thanks the cast, crew, and the production team for another amazing performance.

Meghan Cabral ‘21—Stoneham Meghan finds it bittersweet to be in her final show at Fenwick. Throughout her years here, she has had the honor to be Tomeka in School of Rock, Humpty Dumpty in Shrek the Musical, the Velveteen Rabbit in The Velveteen Rabbit, Cora in Declaration, Wells in Freaky Friday (one performance only), Burnt Sienna in The Big Picture, Meghan in 2041, and the director of the virtual show Cabfare for the Common Man. Today, she will be a prince, a fisher, and another prince! She is so excited to be back on stage. In college, she plans to study molecular biology (she wants to do her lab work great), with either a literature or French minor (she has not decided yet). She loves space. She wants to know what it is like to be real, in the real world. Also, she has a couple things to say to you. Yes, you, reading. If only you would listen! Who else would she talk to? First, if you say you are attractive out loud, you will begin to actually feel attractive (fake it until you make it). We've got power within us. Secondly, always have your wishes written down, even if others find it premature. You can never have too many goals. However, remember that thirty-eight texts to one person in one day is too many if they do not respond. Finally, be forward and stop apologizing (apologizing is Meghan's favorite hobby, but she is trying to quit). If you follow that advice, you will be out of the woods eventually. She will miss Fenwick theatre and all the friends she made along the way. Ars longa, vita brevis.

Erica Dellisola ‘21 - Peabody Erica is a Senior at Bishop Fenwick. This is her 8th production at Fenwick. She participated in three of the 10-minute plays in January: She was the Prodigal Cow, Daddy Long Legs, and she played herself in 2041. She directed the play Selfie last year and is now playing Narrator 1 in The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon. In her spare time you will probably find her hanging out with friends, taking a nap or watching FRIENDS. She would like to thank her parents and Dr. T for supporting her throughout the show and during this crazy school year. She hopes you like the show and that you keep supporting the arts :)

Brianna Harding ‘21– Salem Brianna Harding is a senior at Bishop Fenwick High School, She has been very active in the Theater Department since her freshman year. In addition to being involved in theater, she is also the President of the Creative Writing Club and the Book Club, and she is a member of the National Honor Society. She has also been involved in choir since her freshman year, and enjoys singing, being creative, and meeting new people. Brianna plans to attend Bentley University this upcoming fall, where she intends to pursue a business centered major. Brianna has loved every year that she has spent at Fenwick, and feels honored to end her senior year working with such a phenomenal cast!

Emma Harkness ‘22 - Lynn Emma Harkness started theater her freshman year. Although she never did theater before, she came into it with a good attitude. She tried acting, crew, and set design. She was excited to try something new along with making new friends. Emma has been doing gymnastics since she was three years old. While competing for both USA Gymnastics and Bishop Fenwick, she has brought her skills onto the stage. Sophomore year, Emma walked across the stage on her hands in Shrek: The Musical and you’ll see her doing some flips in this show! Along with gymnastics and theater, Emma is involved with the Science, Engineering, and Robotics Club and Young Neighbors in Action. Emma’s favorite memory of Fenwick Theater is playing Madeline Usher in The Tragedies of Poe. Also, Emma is forever thankful for all the memories and friends Fenwick Theater has given her.

Deirdre McKenna ‘21 - Peabody Deirdre McKenna is a soon-to-be-graduating senior who is excited to be playing the roles of the Enchantress and the Doctor. She previously played the role of Mrs. Woodward her freshman year in Bishop Fenwick’s production of School of Rock and was the student director of The Prodigal Cow as part of this year’s “Ten-Under-Ten Zoom Plays.” Deirdre is happy to be participating in the drama club this year with her sister, assistant director, Katrina McKenna. She wishes good luck to the cast and hopes everyone enjoys the show!

Jonathan Rutkowski ‘21– Salem Jonathan is a Senior at Bishop Fenwick. This is going to be his last show at Fenwick. This is also going to be his sixth show at Fenwick. He has been Donkey in Shrek and Mike in Freaky Friday most recently. He is going to be Dwarf 2 and Devil 2 in this show. He is very excited and sad to be doing his last show in high school. And he hopes everyone enjoys the show.
