Fenwick’s Board of Trustees shares our heartfelt gratitude to everyone celebrated in this Report of Giving. With your enthusiastic support, the Fenwick Family again reached new heights!
For the fourth time in our School’s history, we exceeded the $1M mark in fundraising! Indeed, and more impressively, we set another record, receiving over $1 5M in philanthropic support! Through robust annual giving, special scholarship and reunion donations, and significant investment in capital projects, Fenwick set a new standard. This milestone is powerful testimony to the upward trajectory of Bishop Fenwick, to the Herculean efforts of our Alumni Board and Parents’ Council, and to the positive vibe of our entire community. It is also a credit to you, our donors.
The highlights of the past year, like the number of gifts we received, are plentiful: The Faith in Fenwick Auction and Distinguished Service Awards Dinner: We honored deserving recipients John Jaworski ’68, P’02, Arthur Makar ’68, and Janet and Stan Burba P’89, ’90, ’92 GP’19, ’20, ’26, who have a stellar legacy of supporting and shepherding our school. We also celebrated two Legacy Families – the St. Pierre family and the Jenkins family – who have no less than 37 Crusaders numbered among them! Fenwick’s Day of Giving: Led by the All-Crusaders’ Challenge so generously offered by Christine Garrity ’85 Gebski, and fueled by a slew of matching gifts, reunion donations, and personal contributions, all to support student financial aid and other critical needs, Fenwick received over 700 gifts and established a new record for total dollars, raising over $265,000.
Fenwick’s Golf Tournament: For the second year in a row, due to popular demand for this trademark event held in conjunction with St Mary of the Annunciation (Danvers), the tournament had two sessions – morning and afternoon – and welcomed over 175 golfers! The weather was beautiful, and the camaraderie was palpable.
Enthusiasm and excitement about Fenwick was felt everywhere this year, as evidenced by Class Reunions, Parent Gatherings, the Senior Class Gift, and a Major Gift for our Theatre The latter, a transformative gift from Peter ’70 and Mary O’Connor ’70 Barrett, will bring an enormous upgrade to the sound, lighting, and communication technology in our auditorium. The students on our Tech Crew will have a much better and deeper array of tools to hone their skills and to delight our audiences! We are deeply grateful to Peter and Mary for their stewardship and leadership.
Know that your generosity makes a difference It provides the tangibles: financial aid for deserving students, improved compensation for exemplary teachers, a deep and broad academic curriculum, an array of offerings in the arts and athletics, and the necessary investments in our 60-acre campus. It also nourishes the intangibles: our community spirit, our feeling of family, and our genuine sense of belonging.

We are a vibrant, dynamic, morally grounded, and faith-filled community. Welcome to our Annual Report! We take this moment to extend our gratitude and to share our appreciation. Together, we are helping Fenwick reach new heights!
On behalf of our entire Fenwick Family, we express our deep and profound thanks to each of you for helping us to achieve unparalleled success We had yet another record-breaking year, with over $1.5M in philanthropic support! This is only possible because of you!
The 2024-25 academic year was a remarkable one for Bishop Fenwick, highlighted by a superlative Senior class, a vibrant spiritual life, inspiring student involvement in the arts and athletics, impactful peer leadership, and outstanding scholarly success
Let me share just a few highlights:
As you’ll see the Class of 2025 gained acceptance to dozens of top-flight colleges across the country Many of these schools are recognized as leaders in cutting-edge fields and sought-after majors. Together, they reveal the broad geographic diversity of the institutions our Crusaders consider for higher education.
Our Encounter Retreat program welcomed more students than ever to its two extended retreats last year, and our Campus Ministry program is making a difference in our wider community Additionally, to see so many students come to our Chapel each morning to begin their day in prayer is a sign of hope for our world.
From qualifying for the state tournament – our Girls’ Basketball Team made it to the Round of 16 (losing to the eventual state champ) and our Girl’s Tennis Team advanced to the State Semi-Finals – to earning all-star recognition in the local papers, including several Salem News All-Stars, one Salem News Girls’ Basketball Player of the Year, and two D-5 All-State football players, our Crusaders excelled on the field, court, and ice. Our thespians orchestrated a magical and memorable production of Beauty and the Beast, receiving standing ovations even before the final curtain, and the displays and performances during Arts Week demonstrated the remarkable skills of our Crusaders A few of our graduates are pursuing their passion for the arts at elite colleges. Our Crusader Peer Leader program, where select juniors and seniors spend focused time with our incoming freshmen, has grown in scope and influence, and we consistently hear from 9th grade parents how “welcoming, encouraging, friendly, and helpful” our older students are to those new to our community.
On the academic front, once again, Bishop Fenwick has been recognized by the College Board for its excellence in the Advanced Placement (AP) program Fenwick was named a Gold Award winner in two areas and a Platinum Award winner in one Kudos to our teachers for bringing the best out of our students!
Finally, our DECA Team had a remarkable year. This amazing group had 20 students qualify for the State Finals, across a dozen categories, earning awards and accolades in everything from Sports & Entertainment Marketing to Personal Finance Literacy Of this group, 7 advanced to the National/International competition in Orlando!
Both student engagement and student voices are alive and well at Fenwick. Our Crusaders have incredibly high participation rates with nearly 85% of students participating in 5 or more clubs and activities during their time at Fenwick Their work in our Fenwick Connect public speaking program is outstanding. Our Crusaders shared their inspiring Fenwick Connect Speeches with our Board, Alumni Board, and Parents’ Council, with honored guests at dedications and celebrations, and with our entire student body during Catholic Schools Week and at special assemblies
As you’ll see in the letter from Neil and Peter, our alumni and parent engagement was outstanding! From Homecoming (despite the rain) to the Christmas Party at the Salem Country Club, from Giving Day (a new record) to the Golf Tournament (two flights of players), we saw significant numbers of alumni and current/former parents connect with Fenwick. The highlight of the year was our annual Faith in Fenwick Auction, where we honored the latest “Distinguished Service to Bishop Fenwick” winners – John Jaworski ’68, P’02, Arthur Makar ’68, and Janet and Stan Burba P’89, ’90, ’92 GP’19, ’20, ’26! We also honored two Legacy Families – the St Pierre Family (14 alums across 2 generations and the Jenkins Family (22 alums across 3 generations ) What a blessing it was to have Mr. Fenwick, Ralph LeDuc, at Danversport to assist with the recognition. We also raised over $60K through the Fund-a-Dream for new classroom furniture, so the old green desks are, at last, only a memory!
The Fenwick Family was there for each other in moments of triumph and tragedy, in moments of success and suffering. How often do I hear, especially after wakes and funerals, the Fenwick Family “stepped up” and “showed up.” This is what we do for each other From weddings to reunions, the bonds of Fenwick traverse the miles and transcend the years How blessed we are to be numbered among such Crusader company
Thank you for your faithful, selfless commitment to our mission of providing a dynamic, holistic, student-centered, and faith-filled experience for the next generation of Crusaders Thank you for investing in our program and, most of all, for supporting of our people – the heart of Fenwick By funding student scholarships and enhancing teacher salaries, you are making a difference.
Thank you, most importantly, for your witness of stewardship and leadership By building our culture of philanthropy, you set an example that inspires all of us in the Fenwick Family. As donors, benefactors, and volunteers, you understood that Fenwick needed you. Together, your response reflects the pride of Fenwick’s history and the promise of Fenwick’s future.
Finally, I share with you the voices of our Class of 2025 Commencement Speakers:
Four years ago, I read the first Fenwick Connect speech of the Class of 2025 and proposed the idea of a timer of 1,465 days I urged us to create the most beautiful memories, to make the most meaningful friendships, and most importantly, to become the best versions of ourselves within those 1,465 days.
As the timer ticks down to its few seconds, I’m proud of the friendships we’ve made, the experiences we’ve lived, and the family we’ve become a part of here at Fenwick. Every moment, every day, has been worth it.
CELINA HANNA ’25, SAC PRESIDENT, NOW AT BRYANT UNIVERSITY
Our Bishop Fenwick Crusade is coming to an end It played out in classrooms, theaters, studios, courts, fields, and tracks. We crusaded at local, regional, and national events demonstrating grit, loyalty, strength, and dedication to our school, to our community, and to ourselves. Bonitas et Fidelitas – goodness and loyalty. It is our path, our calling card, and we rose to the occasion every single time.
When we think of a Crusader, it doesn't always bring to mind someone trying to build a better community. Yes, Crusaders were conquerors and warriors, yet we created a new definition for the word Crusader: strong leaders, exceptional athletes, hardworking students, talented performers and artists, all who support each another in our individual and collective crusades – and have a lot more fun!

Over the past few months, many of us have wished we could go back and reassure ourselves: It’s going to work out Honestly, for most of high school, I loathed hearing that
"Everything happens for a reason," people would say. Or, "It’ll all work out." And I’d think: But what if it doesn’t? This year, it got to a point where these phrases would not comfort me but anger me. Those clichés are hardest to believe in the moments when we don’t know the reason for the struggle or have yet to see the happy ending
If these four years have taught me anything, it’s that… most of the time, it actually does work out. Freshman year, I lost the election for class Vice President. I was devastated. I texted my parents, cried a little, and walked into Mrs. Schmeck’s room for a newspaper meeting. She suggested I check out a business club called DECA. That one small redirection ended up shaping my entire high school path - and possibly my future If I’d won that election, maybe none of it would’ve happened
The most important experiences aren’t always our wins. They’re the moments we fall and figure out how to get back up again. I hope we remember that our paths to who we’re meant to be are rarely linear – and that it’s not only okay to make mistakes, it’s necessary.

I’ve been told that I could’ve done great things anywhere that I would have been accepted into the same colleges regardless of my high school choice I’m not so sure The unparalleled opportunities for service and leadership I’ve found here are more impactful than any AP I could take or any club I could join. What makes Fenwick special isn’t just the curriculum it is the multitude of communities we share.
Fenwick has shown me the necessity of faith education That’s what led me here in the first place I didn’t choose my high school based on which had the most fields, the largest gym, or the most 3D printers. I chose Fenwick because it has daily Mass, two priests, and a chapel with the Eucharist present 24/7. I came to Fenwick because I believed and still believe that who we become matters more than any momentary success we achieve.
We should have the courage to make choices that reflect our values, not just the choices that will improve our resumes Yet, so much of life lies beyond our control. There’s no way of knowing for sure what our futures hold - trust me, I’ve tried. Trust in God’s plan for your life, even when you can’t see it. Let’s find communities that support us in our quest for truth. We cannot do it on our own. The next steps in our lives will bring incredible opportunities – if we are open to the unexpected, taking risks, and trusting God

FENWICK & SAINT MARY OF THE ANNUNCIATION 41ST ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC
For the second consecutive year—and once again driven by overwhelming enthusiasm for this beloved tradition the annual Golf Tournament, held in partnership with St. Mary of the Annunciation School, expanded to include both morning and afternoon sessions to accommodate the tremendous turnout. More than 175 golfers joined us on the course for a day marked by spectacular weather, spirited camaraderie, and Crusader pride. The event celebrated friendship and community, and raised over $35,000 in vital support for the continued excellence of Fenwick and St. Mary’s.

Inspired by the All-Crusaders’ Challenge, so generously launched by Christine Garrity ’85 Gebski, and energized by a successful parent challenge, reunion class contributions, and personal donations, the Fenwick community came together in an extraordinary show of support for student financial aid and many other projects. Thanks to this collective generosity, Fenwick received over 700 gifts and set a new fundraising record, raising over $265,000 in total This remarkable achievement reflects the unwavering dedication of alumni, parents, and friends who continue to ensure that a Fenwick education remains accessible to all deserving students
