PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE In every place and time, in every situation and circumstance, there is always room for gratitude. This is especially true now—during this specific time and amidst this particular circumstance. Thank you.

Thank you. What you have done is extraordinary.

We at Fenwick are deeply and profoundly grateful to each of you for helping us to achieve unparalleled success—a record total of $750,083 from 817 donors!

As a global community, we have never been more dependent and reliant on each other; indeed, our very health depends upon our cooperative and collective efforts. As a Catholic school, we also have never been more dependent and reliant on each other; our sacred mission depends upon our shared commitment, engagement, and investment. I am proud to say that you rose to the challenge!

As donors, benefactors, and volunteers, you understood that Fenwick needed you. You appreciated that our students were looking to you. You responded. And our exemplary Board led the way. Together, because of you, we were able to weather the incredibly difficult first few months of the global pandemic. Not only did we maintain our fundraising goals—we surpassed them. I doubt many high schools can claim increase in philanthropy from FY19 to FY20. Your selfless generosity and servant leadership inspire all of us. You reveal the strength and solidarity of Fenwick’s history, and you reflect the positivity and promise of our Fenwick’s future.

Finally, I share with you the gratitude we received from our families for the way we responded last spring (and continue to respond this fall) to COVID-19:

This transition to online learning has been fantastic.You are keeping the students engaged in learning and connected to the Fenwick Family!

We express our gratitude for the positive, faith-filled, hopeful communications that have kept our family balanced as we walk on eggshells going day to day wondering what is next for our students.

As much as they don’t want to admit it, they all seem to be happy to have a schedule and connect everyday!

There isn’t a more caring administration and faculty than our Fenwick team.

Although I am sure this may be stressful for all of you, I feel that our student has been able to feel connected to his teachers and classmates under the circumstances.

We are very lucky not to have lost a day of learning.

Let me say how impressed we are with how quickly the Fenwick team came up with a cohesive plan to not only keep our kids learning, but more importantly connected and in a routine.

What stands out most to me is the frequency of the word “connected” in these comments. Essential to our Fenwick culture and tradition is this sense of connectedness. We are connected to our School and to our God. We are connected to former teachers, coaches, and mentors…and, thankfully, to each other. Now, more than ever, we must get connected—and stay connected. This is Fenwick; this is the Fenwick Family. Because of you, the Fenwick Family is providing this deep, graced, abiding, and life-giving sense of connection to a new generation of Crusaders. TRUSTEE MESSAGE On behalf of the Board of Trustees, thank you to all who are included in this Report on Giving. With your commitment, we are building and sustaining our team of gifted faculty, promoting diverse offerings for our students, and fostering Fenwick’s academics, arts, and athletics. Your generous support truly makes a difference. Thank you!

There has never been a more important time for sound and compassionate leadership. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we would like to acknowledge President Tom Nunan and Principal Cecilia Márquez for their steady, calming presence, tireless efforts, and inspiring leadership in navigating Fenwick through these challenging times. Thanks also to Fenwick’s extraordinary faculty and staff in creating a robust, flexible learning platform for our community and to our students and parents for adapting so effectively. We offer a special thank you to our fellow trustees for sharing so selflessly your time, wisdom, resources, and perspectives.

Our current situation as a world, country and local community illustrates why a Catholic education, and a Fenwick experience, have never been more valuable and more necessary: ●

All are welcome to the Fenwick community and can achieve a sense of belonging. Fenwick offers a safe harbor for students during a time of heightened anxiety and concern. At Fenwick, each young person can find his/her place.

Because of our size, and our structure as a private institution, we can be proactive and nimble in keeping our students safe while offering high quality programs and instruction, with an emphasis on service to others.

Fenwick educates the ‘whole person’ – mind, body and soul. We integrate spirituality into our classrooms, on the playing fields, in school liturgies, and in daily prayer. A Fenwick education is grounded in virtue, faith, and community. Our graduates are better prepared to serve and lead in our ever-changing and complex world.

You also can become active in our community by attending virtual, or at some point, live Fenwick events. You may serve as a volunteer or class agent. Additionally, you can share what Fenwick has to offer by referring prospective students and families to our Admissions team.

ADVANCEMENT MESSAGE The 2019-20 School year will certainly be one to remember. It is with heartfelt gratitude that we thank you, our donors and volunteers, who supported Fenwick this past year. Fenwick’s development efforts, for the third consecutive year, experienced growth in total dollars raised. We closed the books with a record cash total of $750,083 from 817 donors. This includes gifts for current operations, endowment, capital, special projects and event revenue. Given the challenges of the global pandemic, this achievement is all the more remarkable; it reveals what is most special—even sacred—about our Fenwick Family. We could not have done it without you!

Here are a few of the highlights: · The Board of Trustees led the way with 100% participation and 18% of our giving total. Thank you to all of our Trustees for your incredible generosity and service to Fenwick. You are setting a credible and compelling example for all of us, and your impact on this year’s advancement effort is extraordinary! · Leadership Giving, the core of any development effort, will be a continued focus as we move forward.

Donors at $1,000 or more gave 83% of the dollar total. This underscores the impact and importance of leadership giving and our need to increase the number of leadership donors. We offer our special thanks to so many of you whose gifts are included in these totals. ·

· The Fenwick Fund -- We enjoyed a significant increase in annual giving in 2019-20. What happens as we look to 2020-2021? We must keep our momentum as we continue to build upon this year's success. Annual Giving is the foundation of our fundraising program. We are going to need your help to get as many people involved as possible. We are also hopeful that by late fall, we will be able to have a number of small regional gatherings during the year. When able to do this, we hope to see you at one of these events.

Advancement Highlights ●

Overall Giving increased 5% this year. Amidst the hardship and suffering of COVID-19, thank you to all of our donors who sacrificed for Fenwick, recognizing that our mission has never been more important and your support has never been more essential.

●

Our Day of Giving Challenge on May 5 exceeded all expectations. In honor of the 134 members of the Class of 2020, we surpassed our goal of 134 gifts and raised over $23,000 from 168 donors in 24 hours.

This was a wonderful success! Many of the gifts were made on that day were in support of our students and families who were hit hardest by the Coronavirus. It was great to see so many rally for Fenwick and the Class of 2020 on this special giving day.

Our Faith in Fenwick Auction continues to be our signature fundraising event and we are fortunate that we had this special evening prior to COVID-19. Special Thanks to Auction Co-Chairs, Joan Harrington '89 O’Hare P’19, ’21 and Kristen Prodanas '89 Clark P’18, ’20 as well as to the small army of parent volunteers for your countless hours of work in preparing and organizing this magnificent celebration of Fenwick. The auction raised an impressive $140,637 this year.

Patrick R. Robinson ‘92 Scholarship Gay Correnti and Richard Robinson, parents of Patrick R. Robinson ’92 establish a new annual scholarship by participating in our Sponsor a Student Program.

Patrick’s Graduation with Principal Ralph LeDuc

Established in Memory of Patrick R. Robinson, beloved son of Gay Correnti and Richard Robinson, Patrick passed away in 2018. After graduating from Fenwick, he continued his studies at the University of Connecticut. Patrick loved the ocean and the beach. Patrick made Key West, Florida his home, where he lived for 16 years. At Fenwick, Patrick played both basketball and baseball. Gay shared, “Bishop Fenwick made a huge impact on Patrick’s life, the friends he made while at Fenwick he kept in touch with for years. Bishop Fenwick has a special place in my heart. Whenever, I look at the School, I remember and think of my son. I want to pass on the opportunities he had from going to Fenwick to another special person.” This sponsorship will be awarded to a deserving, male student/athlete who is a friend to all and shares the same passion for sports.

My career, which spanned more than fifty years, afforded my wife and me the opportunity to set up a Charitable Remainder Trust. This trust which accumulated by various investments, has allowed us to give back to Fenwick and a number of other schools our children attended. This is an excellent way of “giving-back” to schools who have given so much.”
