October Was Was aa Month Month of of Giving Back at at Fenwick! Fenwick!

From athletic fields to community walks and Halloween celebrations, Fenwick students spent October doing what Crusaders do best – showing up for others! Throughout the month, our athletic teams and Student Activities Council (SAC) turned games into opportunities to raise awareness and show support for those affected by breast cancer. Meanwhile, our Best Buddies chapter brought Halloween fun to Northeast Arc with a festive Trunk or Treat, and Rotary Interact hosted a Halloween party for individuals served by social services. The spirit of giving continued beyond campus, as members of the Dementia Friends Club participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer's, Best Buddies students joined the Best Buddies Friendship Walk in support of inclusion and friendship, and members of Campus Ministry attended the Catholic Charities Service Summit. Different clubs, different causes, but one common purpose: making a difference in the lives of others. These moments are a reminder that a Fenwick education extends far beyond the classroom. Through service, compassion, and community involvement, our students are putting the Fenwick FIRST values into action – and proving that even small acts of kindness can make a big impact. October may be coming to an end, but the Crusader spirit of giving back is never out of season!

LEADING WITH F.I.R.S.T. Congratulations, Giovanni Vanoni '29! Congratulations to sophomore Giovanni Vanoni, our October Fenwick F.I.R.S.T. Award recipient! Some students lead by example, quietly demonstrating the values that define the Fenwick community through their everyday actions. Giovanni Vanoni is one of those students. A familiar face at morning Mass with Padre H, Giovanni puts his faith into action, also assisting with all-school liturgies. His integrity shows in his dedication to his schoolwork and his encouragement of classmates to be their best. He builds meaningful relationships through friendship, kindness, and the positive example he sets for those around him.

In the classroom, Giovanni approaches scholarship with curiosity and determination, embracing challenges and pushing himself to think more deeply. And through his commitment to the Fenwick community, he honors the traditions that make our school special. His faculty nominator describes him as a student who would be a welcome addition to any classroom, and Giovanni reminds us that living our F.I.R.S.T. values isn't about one extraordinary moment, it's about the choices we make every day. Congratulations, Giovanni, on this well-deserved recognition! Giovanni Vanoni '29

The Class of 2027 has something to celebrate—and a new place in Fenwick history! The seniors kicked off their Senior Class Gift campaign with a class breakfast on October 9, setting an ambitious goal: 100% participation by October 23 to help fund a brand-new scorer's table for the Fenwick Gym. And they did not disappoint! For the first time since the Class of 2016, Fenwick's seniors achieved 100% participation, demonstrating an extraordinary commitment to giving back to the school community.

SENIOR GIFT – 100%! Their achievement also unlocked a special $500 matching gift pledge from Fenwick alumna Candace Harris ’00 Perreault, co-founder of the Rock the Spectrum Foundation. A special shout-out goes to the Senior Class Gift Committee— Amelia Gallant, Allie Casamassima, Jackson Cody, Romulo Galleguillos, Cole Schroeder, Sarah Shann, Lauren Cinelli, and Weston McCracken— whose leadership, enthusiasm, and hard work helped make this milestone possible. Congratulations, Class of 2027! You've already begun building your Fenwick legacy—and you're leaving it better than you found it!

THE BEST WAY TO SHARE FENWICK? INVITE SOMEONE TO EXPERIENCE IT. Our next Open House is November 10 – and our Fenwick families can help make it a success!

Every Fenwick family has a story. Maybe it started with a recommendation from a friend, a conversation on the sidelines of a game, or a visit to campus that just felt right. Whatever brought you to Fenwick, your experience is now one of our most valuable ways to introduce the next generation of Crusaders to our community. Your conversations, recommendations, and personal experiences really do matter. On Tuesday, November 10, from 5:30PM to 7:30PM, Fenwick will welcome prospective students and families to campus for Open House. You know better than anyone; it's an opportunity for visitors to meet our students and faculty, explore our academic programs, discover athletics and extracurricular opportunities, and experience the community that makes Fenwick special. We Need Your Help to Spread the Word! You don't need to work in Admissions to be a Fenwick ambassador. Sometimes, all it takes is one conversation or one shared post.

Share our Open House posts on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn, and add a few words about what Fenwick has meant to your family. Personally invite a family with a middle school student. A recommendation from someone they know can make all the difference. Talk about Fenwick with friends, neighbors, coworkers, and families on your child's teams or in your community. Encourage your Crusader to spread the word! Our students are often our very best ambassadors. Here's our challenge: Can every Fenwick family invite just one prospective family to Open House? Imagine the impact of hundreds of personal invitations coming from the people who know Fenwick best. Our marketing can tell people what Fenwick offers. Our students and families can show them what Fenwick means.

Tuesday, November 10 | 5:30–7:30 PM Thank you for helping us open the door for the next generation of Fenwick Crusaders.

HELPING OUR OUR FRESHMEN FRESHMEN MAKE MAKE THE THE MOST OF THEIR THEIR TIME TIME AT AT FENWICK FENWICK Dear Parents, At Fenwick, we know that learning to manage time effectively is an important part of a student’s transition to high school. As part of our ongoing partnership with The Social Institute, our freshmen recently participated in a lesson on “Time Management Hacks,” designed to help them develop healthy habits, stay organized, and feel more confident balancing their academic responsibilities and personal lives. Our seniors took this lesson to the next level by sharing practical strategies for making the most of each day at Fenwick. Drawing from their own high school experiences, they helped our freshmen recognize that successful time management begins with using the time they already have wisely. The seniors emphasized the importance of taking advantage of Fenwick Connect and study halls to complete smaller tasks throughout the school day. Whether it is finishing a short assignment, reviewing notes, organizing materials, or getting a head start on homework, using these blocks of time intentionally can make a meaningful difference. By taking care of smaller responsibilities during the school day, students can create more space in their evenings for larger assignments that require greater focus, such as studying for a test, preparing for an assessment, or writing a longer essay. Another important takeaway was the value of planning ahead for the weekend. We often hear students talk about the “Sunday Scaries”—that feeling of stress or anxiety when Sunday arrives and there is still a long list of assignments to complete before Monday morning. The seniors encouraged freshmen to avoid this cycle by spreading their work throughout the week and creating a realistic plan for weekend responsibilities.

Starting assignments early, setting aside dedicated time to work, and avoiding the temptation to leave everything until Sunday night can help students enjoy their weekends while still feeling prepared for the week ahead. Perhaps the most valuable part of this lesson was hearing these strategies directly from our seniors. Their advice reinforced the idea that time management is not about filling every minute with work; it is about making intentional choices, building good habits, and finding a healthy balance between academics, extracurricular activities, friendships, and rest. As your student continues to adjust to the expectations of high school, I encourage you to ask them how they are using Fenwick Connect and study halls, what their plan is for completing assignments throughout the week, and what strategies they can use to make Sunday evenings less stressful. These simple conversations can help reinforce the skills they are developing at school and encourage greater independence and responsibility. At Bishop Fenwick, we want our students to succeed not only in the classroom but also in developing the life skills that will serve them well beyond high school. We are grateful to The Social Institute for providing our students with valuable tools and to our seniors for leading by example and sharing their wisdom with the next generation of Fenwick students. Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we help our freshmen build habits that will contribute to a successful and balanced high school experience. Warmly, Mrs. Jena Timson
