Minister Tina Thorton “I Am A Witness”

Tina Thornton, a lifelong native of Birmingham, Alabama, serving the indigent population for women, men and at-risk youth has been engaged in community outreach since 1997. She began this journey following her own cycle of abuse after her second marriage/ relationship ended of twenty-one years. Through her quest to comprehend her position or lack thereof of her own abusive posture – Tina enrolled into an Anger Management class to better understand the mindset of her abusive husband. Soon afterwards she began attending a Domestic Violence support group to receive further insight on the repetitive cycle of domestic violence demonstrated in her family. She was looking to help her husband and found help for herself.

Her participation in this group led to her facilitating, Violence Intervention Workshops for the Judicial System. S.O.L.E. (Survivors Overcoming Life Experiences) Services, formerly Gem Kreations was birthed through observation of the lack of systematic support readily accessible during her season of restoration and healing warranted to navigate beyond her own abuse. Tina noted the lack of support identifying the rooted matter that positions most victims to participate in cycle relationships fueled by abuse. Tina was determined to encounter inner healing that would truly break the cycle of abuse she had experienced and witnessed in the lives of others.

S.O.L.E. Recovery, LLC, “Survivor focused, and experience driven” was purposed to enrich and transform lives altered by generational cycles of unhealthy abusive behaviors on a journey of advocacy; empowerment, and education. Tina was focused educating women to understand the vast difference between a love that obeys and a love that enslaves! Enslaved love is subjective and conditional. Agape love does not look for reciprocity! Allow love to lead by an authentic demonstration. Empowering others to grow to love themselves more than they’ve experienced in their pain! As its Founder, Tina believes that nothing in life better equips you to help others more than lived experiences beyond shame and guilt of those horrific experiences! Life sets you up with experiences that afford challenges, breakthroughs and solutions that afford deliverance and healing in the lives of others. It was those experiences of abandonment and rejections that defined me beyond my understanding as it relates to low self- esteem and self-sabotage in many areas of my life. Tina found herself abandoning relationships purposed to navigate her beyond the next level of freedom because of trust issues. The greatest reward was laboring to better understand and overcome rooted issues that robbed her of her first identity. This robbery aligned her to collide into the identity of the Father who transforms, pain & disappointment to become a Kingdom solution! It was a journey that shifted the trajectory of her existence, revelation, wisdom and the lives of the children that witness more than they should.
