ASU Student Pavilion

Experience the center of student activity Located in the center of student life at ASU Tempe, the new Student Pavilion, is an event venue for guest lectures, musicals, comedic performances and student productions.

The Student Pavilion was designed as a Net Zero Energy building and will deliver green qualities including renewable energy, energy-efficiency and Zero Waste.

Sponsored student organizations are encouraged to make use of the Pavilion’s multiuse event space with auditorium-style seating for up to 1,100 guests.

Nicole Taylor Deputy VP/Dean of Students Tempe

Biography Nicole Taylor is Deputy Vice President and Dean of Students with oversight over student conduct, student advocacy, engagement and partnership with student government, student and cultural engagement, international student engagement, and off-campus community relations. She works closely with the Deans of Students at our Downtown, Polytechnic and West campuses. Nicole came to ASU from Stanford University where she was an Associate Vice Provost and the Dean of Community Engagement and Diversity.

Prior to her appointment at Stanford, Nicole was President and CEO of the Thrive Foundation for Youth, based in Silicon Valley. Before Thrive, she was the President and CEO of the East Bay Community Foundation in the San Francisco Bay Area, for six years. Nicole has had extensive executive leadership experience in education, philanthropy, and youth-serving and education-focused nonprofits. She has served on numerous boards of directors, and has significant experience in fund raising, coaching executives and public speaking.

Nicole holds a B.A. in Human Biology and a M.A. in Education, both from Stanford, and an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Holy Names University. She currently sits on the boards of directors of Common Sense Media and two family foundations, and recently termed off of the board for the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco where she served for six years.

Clayton Taylor, MBA, CSSMBB Director, Organizational Performance Six Sigma Master Black Belt

Biography Clayton Taylor, MBA, is the Director of the Business and Finance Organizational Performance Office in the Office of the Executive Vice President, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer at Arizona State University. His office consults with nine diverse Business and Finance operational areas to lower costs, improve operational efficiency and provide the highest quality customer experience to internal and external customers.

Mr. Taylor is a Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt with experience deploying Lean Six Sigma and process improvement initiatives in a variety of service organizations. He is an experienced team and project manager who is skilled at coaching, developing and motivating work teams to achieve high productivity and quality goals. He has designed and implemented numerous innovative processes which have enabled organizations to grow, support customers, and improve profitability.

Mr. Taylor is an industry subject matter expert in business operations, management, continuous improvement, customer service, quality, and employee development. He is an experienced training professional and facilitator, who has designed and led numerous training programs including Lean Six Sigma for Service Green Belt certification, Service Operations and Process Improvement Boot Camp, Supervisory Academy, Above and Beyond Customer Service, and Real ColorsÂŽ. Additionally, he has created and led various training classes in strategic planning, business skills, process improvement tools, and employee motivation.

Before joining Arizona State University, Mr. Taylor worked as a Project Manager for retail customer contact and credit centers, managed customer service teams in the retail and airline industry, and worked in national television media sales. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Northern Kentucky University and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Jillian McManus, LCSW, DBH HR Senior Director, Organizational Health and Development

Biography Dr. McManus has a BA in Psychology, a Masters in Social Work and a Doctorate in Behavioral Health. Her clinical expertise includes individual and family counseling, anxiety/depression, health management/health psychology, juvenile delinquency, parenting, stress management, organizational development, workplace consultations, training, and managing transitions utilizing a holistic, approach to care. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and is licensed as a Clinical Social Worker with the Arizona Board of Behavior Health Examiners.

Dr. McManus assumed the role of Director or Organizational Health and Development in July 2007, providing oversight to the Employee Assistance Office, Employee Wellness and Work-Life programs at Arizona State University.

Three story, 74,843 SF student centric facility located in the core of the Tempe campus Designed by students for students Majority of funding was supplied by student fees The facility features a 15,000 square foot event space, that seats 1,200 Houses student government, student collations and university classrooms Every event in the venue is considered a “zero waste” event and the student organizations/government have zero waste collections in their areas.

A combination of low energy and renewable energy systems have been implemented throughout the facility ASU Student Pavilion achieves an energy cost reduction of 73.8 percent Chilled water is supplied by the campus chilled water system A 197 kW photovoltaic system is installed A total of 1793 PV modules
