Itgivesmegreatpleasuretoannouncethatthethemeforthisyear’sshowis: “100YearsofSupport,FriendshipandCommunityServicebytheBeverleyBranch of the CWA.” The Country Women’s Association has been a stalwart institution within Beverley, and this year we celebrate the incredible milestone of their centenary. Their commitment to strengthening rural communities, fostering connection, and providing unwavering support deserves the highest recognition. Congratulations to all members, past and present, on this momentous achievement.

The Beverley CWA Branch was formed on 17th October 1925 with the first president being Mrs H M (Beryl)Fisher who later become the 2nd Western Australian State President. During Mrs Fisher's time as state president, The first copy of the Country Woman of Western Australia magazine was printed by Mr Holman of Beverley. The Beverley branch is recognised for having initiated the rural help scheme under the care of Mrs Fisher, where young women travelled from England to assist in rural households when the women were ill or required help.
Achieving a peak of 170 members over the 100 years of operation the Beverley branch of the CWA has been a large contributor within the Beverley community. During this time the CWA held multiple floral and industrial exhibition for many years during the 1930s, approached the Road Board in the 1940’s concerning public conveniences being built in town for the women and about having the white guideposts erected on the roads coming into town. As one of the few branches that remained open throughout the war and helped raise funds for the Patriotic Fund and During the 1950s they were a key part in the promotion of the ‘Wool Campaign’. In the latter years, members carried out a courier service for the elderly in town.
The Beverley CWA Restroom began construction in 1936 with the laying of the foundation stone and continues to be operated and maintained by the Beverley CWA. During World War II the facility was utilised as a school classroom.
Today the CWA branch of Beverley continues to support and service the community in multiple ways. The town is appreciative of all the service friendships and the sense of community it has always created.
