Ques. How long have you been working at CGC?
Ans. "I have been working at the CGC since April 2022 as the Chief Executive Officer. Previously I worked at the CGC for 3 years and 10 months as Legal Officer and Commisssion Secretary. In between my time at the CGC, I worked as the Senior Legal Officer, for 4 years and 3 months, at the BGLC."
Ques. What do you like most about your job?
Ans. " The CGC is in start-up mode. The opportunity to build-out the organization and get it to state of operational readiness, is what I like most about my job."
Ques. What is your favourite pass time?
Ans. "I'm an audiophile, I love to listen to music on quality High Fidelity (HiFi) equipment.
Mr. Allen not only holds a significant position at the Commission, but also serves as the Chairman of the Sugar Company of Jamaica Holdings Limited (SCJH). Additionally, he fulfills the role of devoted husband and caring father in addition to his other responsibilities.

Jamaican sprint legend Usain Bold has been appointed to the board of regional gaming giant Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL). His appointment took effect on June 16, 2023. The board has welcomed Bolt to Supreme Ventures and looks forward to his invaluable contribution to the company.

EPIC BOOTCAMP
On June 24th, the team assembled at 6am at the commission's gym for an intense workout session. A total of 10 trainers were present, providing personalized guidance and assistance to all attendees, regardless of their fitness level. The focus was on ensuring a wholesome experience for everyone involved.
PRIZES AND SURPRISES
The first ten individuals who attended the bootcamp were rewarded with gifts, while BGLC's Sandra Antonio, Director of HRA and Richard Longmore, JRC's Executive Director were also presented with tokens.
The bootcamp garnered a remarkable turnout, with over 50 enthusiastic participants who brought enerygy and stamina to the event.
After a fulfilling workout session, a nutritious breakfast was served.
RECAP
The Health and Wellness Week was held from June 26 to June 30, 2023. Several sessions and activities were organized for the Commission's staff. Here is a recap of the proceedings:
On June 26 Ms. Sabrina Palomino, a Nutritionist, delivered a presentation on health nutrition and its benefits.
On June 27 the Heart Foundation conducted a presentation on cardiovascular diseases, and Dr. Nadine Wong, a Trichologist, gave an impactful presentation on natural medicine.
Wednesday June 28 the focus was on occupational safety and health.Mrs. Donesa Green-McKenzie from the Ministry of Finance & the Public Service provided valuable insights, and the Commission's own Gym Instructors shared tips on the benefits of incorporating exercise into daily lives.
On Thursday June 29, Dr. Roger Gibson was available for one-on-one discussions with team members who had registered to see him. A total of 19 persons took the opportunity to consult with him.
HEALTH AND WELLNESS WEEK

On Friday June 30th the Health Fair took place featuring various representatives and activities. Some of the services offered were:
The Diabetes Association of Jamaica conducted health checks such as ECG, Cholesterol Hemoglobin etc.
The Dent-Care Mobile Unit focused on oral health by cleaning teeth and conducting examinations.
Eye Q Optical promoted healthy eyes
The HIV Prevention Team from the Ministry of Health conducted rapid HIV & Syphilis tests.
Haliborange distributed vitamin samples and offered discounted prices for purchases.
Proactive Lifestyle offered healthy products including teas and natural honey at discounted prices.
Herbal Life made healthy shakes on-site.
Staff were invited to participate in exercise challenges such as squats, planks, and pushups, with the chance to win gift baskets donated by Wisynco, Grace Kennedy and CariMed. The Health and Wellness Week aimed to provide valuable information and resources to improve staff members' overall well-being.

BGLC Donates to May Pen PIU

BGLC donated a Computer to the May Pen Police Station Proactive Investigation Unit (PIU). Wendy Robertson- Communication Manager, Noel Bacquie- Director of Enforcement, Julene Dixon- Communication Officer and Dave Jackson- Inspector, were present at the hand-over ceremony.
Gaming Commission FC
Our 3 Commissions have united to establish our very own football team, known as Gaming Commission Football Club. We are thrilled to announce our participation in the Hagley Park All-Star Football League. Training is already underway, and we are eagerly preparing for our first official match scheduled to commence July 13th at the Cockburn Gardens Primary and Junior High School field.
