ASKLisa gets inquiries about many different needs. The best thing we do is REFER and one of the best referrals is HeartLine 211. Recent requests included: finding food pantries; need for pet food, housing needs, and issues, financial assistance and suicide prevention.

HeartLine 211 is just that – it is the heart of, and a direct line to, critical information on social services available in Oklahoma. The past three years have brought home the reality that many life circumstances can leave you in a crisis situation. The aftermath of a storm, loss of a job, domestic abuse, mental health struggles, hospitalization, bills, and loss of your housing are only a few of the reasons cited as causing need. HeartLine 2-1-1 provides resources and support to assist as you get back on your feet.

If you are struggling with recent current events and feeling anxious, sad or fearful, HeartLine is here to support you 24 hours a day. Dialing into one of the 211 helplines, using the chat service, or texting, 211will connect you to health and social services assistance to aid in mental wellness. If you answer ‘yes’ to all three of the following questions, you may be eligible for programs to reduce your prescription drug costs and Medicare premiums:

1. Do you have Medicare? 2. If single, is your total monthly income less than $1,630, or if married less than $2,198? 3. If single are your total resources $14,790, or if married,$29,520 or less?

Do not count home, vehicles, personal possessions, life insurance, burial plots, irrevocable burial contracts, back payments from Social Security or SSI.

Be proactive with your health. Take advantage of the many Preventive Services that Medicare offers at little or no cost to you. These services are covered by Medicare Part B. No matter what your income or resources, the Medicare and Meds staff want to assist you in learning more about Preventive Services.

The Medicare and Meds staff and other resources are supported by the federally funded MIPPA (Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act) grant from the U.S. Administration for Community Living, Department of Health and Human Services.
