Mehndi Ceremony

The bride will get her hands and feet decorated with henna designs and the people attending this ceremony will also get the henna designs. This ceremony usually takes place before the day of the wedding as applying henna designs takes time and demands the bride to not move for a long time until it dries.

Sangeet Probably this must be the fun filled celebration in the Hindu wedding ceremony. Before it was a part of the engagement ceremony, now it is being conducted separately to extend the celebration and enjoyment for one more day. During the ceremony the members of both the families come together, sing, dance and celebrate the wedding ceremony.

Tilak Ceremony The Tilak Ceremony is regarded as the first step in establishing a tie between the two families.

This auspicious rite is generally held in the groom's home, when male relatives of the bride's family come to deposit Kumkum or vermilion on his forehead. Though different sections of the country have distinct variations of the Tilak ritual, the one described here is the most frequent.

Haldi Ceremony The Haldi Ceremony is one of the most enjoyable aspects of an Indian wedding. Variations of this fortunate occasion can be found throughout the country. A haldi paste is applied on the bride and groom's bodies before or on the morning of their wedding day. This ceremony is conducted following the mehendi procedure in a few Indian states. The concoction used in the ritual is called by many names in different locations, such as ubtan, mandha, tel baan, and so on.
