New Year 5779: Looking ahead to our 100th year You can feel the excitement in the air. New members from Winands Road Synagogue are being warmly welcomed. Young families are flocking to our Shabbat youth services each week. The Epstein Chapel and other shul facilities are getting a makeover. Our congregation, school and camp have never been stronger. Now in our congregation’s 98th year, Beth Tfiloh is building up to a muchanticipated centennial celebration. Committees of our lay leaders and professionals are planning a very special year to enable the entire BT family to be part of this most significant milestone in Beth Tfiloh’s illustrious history. But in the meantime, look forward to seeing more of the same great Jewish programming that has made Beth Tfiloh unique on the American Jewish

scene: inspiring Shabbat and holiday services, our acclaimed preschool, day school, Hebrew school and camp; amazing youth programs for babies through teens; outstanding Mercaz Dahan adult education classes; outreach to our alumni and young adults; and a special warmth and joy that attracts and enriches the lives of members of all ages and from so many levels of observance. SELICHOT at BT Saturday night, September 1 DOCUMENTARY “93QUEEN” 9:00 pm Sanctuary The critically acclaimed documentary that follows a group of tenacious Hasidic women in Brooklyn who break the glass ceiling by launching the first all-women ambulance corps in NYC.

SELICHOT SERVICE 10:45 pm Auditorium Set the tone for the New Year with an upbeat and uplifting musical Selichot service featuring HAZZAN AVI ALBRECHT, the talented KOL FUSION a cappella group, AVRAHAM ROSENBLUM on guitar, NOSSI GROSS on flute, and DR. YEHUDA MOND on keyboards. The service will be preceded by a screening of the acclaimed documentary film, “93Queen,” with insights by DR. ZIPORA SCHORR.

SELICHOT Saturday night, September 1 ROSH HASHANAH Monday/Tuesday, September 10/11 SHABBAT SHUVAH: The Shabbat of Repentence Saturday, September 15 YOM KIPPUR / NEILAH Wednesday, September 19 *SELICHOT is a beautiful and moving late-night service when special prayers of forgiveness are first recited in anticipation of the approaching new year. **NEILAH is the concluding service of Yom Kippur, when final prayers of repentance are recited, with a dramatic shofer blast at its conclusion. Our Selichot and Neilah services are free and open to the public.
