Women’s Shabbat to offer diverse program
B
eth Tfiloh will have a special Women’s Shabbat on Shabbat of February 8, coinciding with Shabbat Shira, the Shabbat when we read the “song at the sea” sung by the Children of Israel upon their deliverance from the Egyptians, and for which we celebrate the leadership of Miriam and all Jewish women. Our guest Shabbat scholar will be Dr. Chana German, Executive Director of The Lookstein Center for Jewish Education in Israel. Dr. German will give the weekly women’s parsha class at 9:55 am and then address the entire congregation at the end of davening. A special Women’s Shabbat Program will take place immediately following services for registered participants. The program will include a gourmet women’s lunch with Shabbat singing led by the Mezumenet women’s Jewish a cappella group from the University of Maryland, and guided table discussion topics. Following lunch, women are welcome to participate in one or more Shabbat afternoon programs, including a women’s
