Ava is the daughter of Natasha and Imanuel Lerman, and the granddaughter of Penny and Ruvin Lerman, and Patsy and William Surette. She attends San Diego Jewish Academy. For her Mitzvah Project, Ava made custom cups to raise money for Ronald McDonald House. Ava’s favorite hobbies include dance, and more dance, (six days a week). She also enjoys art (drawing, crafting) and during the winter, skiing.

Lucas is the son of Ellen and Peter Gordon, and the grandson of Phyllis and Arthur Saft; and Kathie and Mike Gordon, Carol and Bob (z”l) Zuckerman. He attends Pacific Trails Middle School and is in 7th Grade. For his Mitzvah Project, Lucas volunteers and distributes food for 92130 Cares. This grassroots organization’s mission is to facilitate the sharing of resources, to connect neighbors, and to embrace and deliver acts of kindness to those in need in the greater Carmel Valley neighborhood. Lucas enjoys watching and playing basketball, playing video games, and trying new ethnic restaurants.
Vanessa is the daughter of Kevin and Michelle Berkowitz and the granddaughter of Sam and Nancy Berkowitz and Randee and Marty Leffler. Vanessa attends Marshall Middle School, and is in 7th Grade. For her Mitzvah Project she volunteered 50+hours in the classrooms of the Bill & Sid Rubin Preschool playing with and helping the toddlers and preschoolers in the classroom and on the playground. She is also committed to raising money for the Juvenile Diabetes Program at Rady Children’s Hospital in memory of her Uncle Michael, and in honor of her cousin, her friend, and others. This disease has personally touched her life in different ways, and she wants to help contribute to finding a cure so that others won’t suffer. Her hobbies include soccer, drumming, singing, and hanging out with her friends.
Gabrielle Soifer

Gabrielle is the daughter of Jennifer and Harris Soifer and the granddaughter of Sally and Terry Taitz and Maralyn and Paul Soifer. She attends Carmel Valley Middle School. For her Mitzvah Project she is raising money for the Jessie Rees Foundation to fight childhood cancer. With the money raised she will construct joy jars to distribute to Children's Hospitals across the country. Gabrielle also painted Shabbat candlestick holders for Mish bags. Gabrielle’s favorite hobbies include painting/drawing, Tang Soo Do martial arts.
JOHANNA HAIMS

Johanna Beth Haims is the daughter of Julia and Joshua Haims and the sister of Jayden Haims. She is the granddaughter of Beth, (z”l), and Jim Gatch; and Doris and Gerry (z”l) Haims, Judy Haims-Trump (z”l), and Gary Trump (z”l). Johanna attends Francis Parker School. For her Mitzvah Project, Johanna is volunteering with the Alex Morgan Foundation. The Alex Morgan Foundation works with women and girls in the community to provide support where it is needed. Johanna will be helping gather and deliver comfort nursery kits to new moms over Mother's Day weekend. Johanna's passion is soccer. She has worked hard to learn and continues to excel at the game. Johanna also enjoys traveling with her family and hanging out with her friends.

Emma is the daughter of Adam and Erin Levenson, and the granddaughter of Henry Michael and Hela Geulah Fields and David and Meryl Levenson. Emma attends the Jewish Academy. For her Mitzvah Project, she will be collecting donations for the FIDF to help go towards the soldiers that defend our homeland. Emma’s favorite hobbies include playing basketball, going to the movies, reading, and spending time with her family, especially her cousins.
JADEN GOLDSTEIN

Jaden is the son of Gina and Ryan Goldstein, and grandson of Jacky and Alby Amato (z”l) and Linda and Daniel Goldstein. Jaden attends Pacific Trails Middle School. For his Mitzvah Project, Jaden raised money for Road Dogs Rescue, a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating bulldogs and puppies with birth defects and spreading the message of love and compassion towards all animals. Jaden looks forward to becoming a volunteer for Road Dogs when he meets the age requirements. His hobbies include, tennis, football, skiing, traveling, playing chess, and playing video games with friends.

DANA FISCHER

Dana is the daughter of Adam and Rachelle Fischer and the granddaughter of Michael and Roberta Fischer and Jack and Barbara Eisenberg. She attends Carmel Valley Middle School. For her Mitzvah Project, Dana decided to grow her hair and to donate it for cancer patients. In addition, Dana is an ambassador for the non-profit organization, Magikids. Magikids is a 501(c)(3) charity based out of Rochester, Minnesota, which gives kids access to the card game Magic, The Gathering. This gives teachers and mentors the cards and resources they need to teach the game. Dana’s hobbies include playing Magic: The Gathering, ice skating, and soccer.
Kate Elizabeth Newlander

Kate is the daughter of Jody and Jon Newlander and the granddaughter of Ronna Schary and Ira Newlander and Renee Ellis (z”l). She attends Pacific Trails Middle School. For her Mitzvah Project, Kate is collecting items and donations for Helen Woodward Animal Center’s adoption/foster program. Kate’s hobbies include sports, video games, playing with her dogs and spending time with her family.
