Culture and experience go hand in hand with education. When you study abroad, you have the opportunity to immerse yourself in another culture’s traditions and knowledge. You’ll have the chance to meet with foreign ambassadors, learn about significant locations, and meet with fellow students from different universities. Study abroad programs help you to become not just a more well-rounded student, but a more globally minded person.

Through Bethany’s affiliations, you’ll have access to over 50 study abroad opportunities. While some programs require a semester abroad, Bethany only requires that you have junior status and approval from the International Education Committee. Plus, you’ll still earn college credit while studying abroad.

This flexibility allows you to choose a program that fits your academic goals while still gaining meaningful international experience.

We also offer two scholarships to help you find and finance your foreign travel. The Benjamin Chandler Shaw TravelAward is given to a junior whose foreign travel proposal is the best fit for their desired education, and the Bettie Blank Travel award is given to any student whose proposal best augments English literature studies.

Bethany has confirmed connections with schools in the following countries: England, Germany, France, Russia, Pakistan, Bulgaria, Spain, Japan, Italy, Kenya, Tanzania, China, India, Thailand, Ecuador.

To see how these opportunities come to life, explore a study abroad story from Timberlyn, a 2025 Bethany grad who studied in Florence, Italy. Her experience offers a glimpse into the academic and personal impact of studying abroad through Bethany. Flip the page to read more!
