SOCIAL WORK

Bethany College’s social work program blends classroom learning with real-world experience in a variety of professional settings. Students complete 550 hours of field placement, supervised by experienced faculty and professional mentors.

Field placements are available in hospitals, schools, nursing homes, correctional centers, behavioral health facilities, domestic violence prevention programs, and many other social service settings across the tri-state area.

Based on your GPA, you may qualify for advanced standing in a graduate social work program, allowing you to complete a master’s degree in as little as 12 months.

Student Opportunities

The department sponsors the social awareness club, open to all students interested in promoting social justice and raising awareness of key issues on campus.

As a senior, you’ll complete a 500-hour internship as part of your major, applying your classroom learning to a professional setting. Many students complete their senior project alongside their internship, conducting original research under faculty supervision.

Graduate Accomplishments

Many pursue advanced degrees in social work, while others enter careers as therapists, agency administrators, lawyers, law enforcement officers, child protective service workers, military service members, or nonprofit professionals focused on advocacy and care.
