COMPUTER SCIENCE

At Bethany College, our computer science program focuses on the study of software and hardware systems. Students explore artificial intelligence, computer systems and networks, security, database systems, computer interfaces, numerical analysis, programming languages, software engineering, and the theory of computing. From foundational theory to practical application, Bethany provides the tools and support to pursue your passions in the field of computer science.

ABOUT BETHANY COLLEGE

Bethany College, founded in 1840, is the oldest private college in West Virginia. The Bethany experience focuses on academic excellence in the area of liberal arts and prepares future leaders for a lifetime of work and a life of significance.

Our campus is located on 1,300 beautiful acres in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains, just one mile from Pennsylvania and five miles from Ohio. Bethany is served by Pittsburgh International Airport, just 45 minutes from campus. The College is located 39 miles from downtown Pittsburgh, 22 miles from Washington, Pa., and 14 miles from Wheeling.

Student Opportunities

Computer science students can join the Math and Computer Science Club to grow in their field and foster peer relationships. Internships are strongly encouraged, offering hands-on experience with prestigious local and national companies. Recent interns have worked with the FBI Honors Internship Program, PNC Financial Services, ZeroChaos, Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, and WesBanco Bank, Inc.

Graduate Accomplishments

Bethany computer science graduates have built successful careers as web designers, full-stack developers, software developers, and software engineers. Alumni have gone on to work at Amazon, Google, Sheetz, Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics, FedEx, and Guttman Energy. Others have pursued graduate studies at Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Robotics Ph.D. program and Wright State University Graduate School.
