ABOUT BETHANY COLLEGE Bethany College, founded in 1840, is the oldest private college in West Virginia.

Opportunities & Innovation Student Opportunities You may choose to become a member of one or more of our clubs, including the American Chemical Society Bethany Affiliates and the Pre-Health Professions Club. Advanced students may be selected to join Alpha Epsilon Delta, the health preprofessional honor society, or Gamma Sigma Epsilon, our chemistry honor society. As a chemistry student, you will have access to phenomenal resources, including the Math Science Community Learning Center and the ACS Lounge. We also offer funding provided by Gans Fund and NASA West Virginia Space Grant Consortium Fellowships. Bethany offers state-of-the-art instrumentation, including Raman and FTIR vibrational spectroscopy, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, PCR and Western Blot, and stationary and portable visible-ultraviolet near IR spectroscopy. Our chemistry program encourages you to pursue summer internships and field experiences to enhance your learning beyond the classroom.

Graduate Accomplishments Many Bethany graduates go right into research or service fields, including education, industrial chemistry, and state and federal agencies. With the flexible skills they learned at Bethany, some recent graduates have gone on to continue their education at institutions like Duquesne University School of Pharmacy, University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, Marshall University, University of California, Berkeley, and University of Texas, Austin.
