ABOUT BETHANY COLLEGE
Bethany College, founded in 1840, is the oldest private college in West Virginia. The Bethany experience focuses on academic excellence in the area of liberal arts and prepares future leaders for a lifetime of work and a life of significance.
Our campus is located on 1,300 beautiful acres in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains, just one mile from Pennsylvania and five miles from Ohio. Bethany is served by Pittsburgh International Airport, just 45 minutes from campus. Student Opportunities
As a Bethanian in our biology department, you will have the chance to enrich your studies with student activities outside the classroom. You will be offered a chance to become a member of our various clubs, such as the Greener Bethany Club, Outdoors Club, or Pre-Health Professions Club. Inside the classroom, you will have the chance to proctor laboratory classes, complete a prestigious senior research project, and work with the campus greenhouse. We encourage you to develop your skills and attune your knowledge by partaking in summer internships. Our advanced students are recognized by being offered the chance to join Beta Beta Beta, our biological honors society.
Graduate Accomplishments
It is common for Bethanians to continue their higher education experience after graduation. Our alumni have gone on to lead illustrious careers. Most notably, we have had alumni develop careers within the Pueblo Zoo in Colo. as zookeepers and as Ducks Unlimited conservationists. Other Bethanians have pursued advanced degrees at prestigious institutions. Recent graduates of our biology program have gone on to the Ohio State Veterinary School, graduate school in forestry, the Ohio State University Optometry School, and West Virginia University School of Dentistry.
