Dear Chamber Members, As we move into the summer months, I want to personally reach out to highlight an important initiative that directly supports the heart of our community — our local retail businesses and restaurants. Our "(717) Be Loyal. Buy Local." campaign launches June 1st – July 31st, and we’re calling on you — our valued members — to help champion this effort. This initiative, sponsored by Brightspeed, is more than just a slogan. It's a rallying cry to remind residents, business owners, and local leaders that their purchasing decisions have real power. June and July are traditionally the most challenging months for local retailers and restaurants. With schools out, families traveling, and consumer spending often shifting toward vacations and larger national retailers, our local establishments face a noticeable dip in foot traffic and sales. This year, with rising costs, and economic uncertainty, this seasonal slowdown is even more concerning. Now more than ever, we need to support the businesses that support our community. These are the businesses that sponsor our youth sports teams, donate to local causes, create jobs, and contribute to the unique character of our community. Every dollar spent locally is a vote for a thriving, connected, and resilient community. With your help, we can make a real impact during these critical months and beyond.
