THE CHAMBER

Dear Chamber Family,
It’s the season to turn the tassel on the graduation cap from one side to the other. Not only do we celebrate the high school graduations at our local area high schools, but we also celebrate and reflect upon those in higher education institutions, Leadership Cumberland, as well as the US Army War College. Congratulations to all of you who are receiving diplomas or certifications in your ceremonies! We celebrate your achievement and value all that you bring to our community.
Carlisle is a vibrant community that boasts a rich history, and a thriving future. We are a crossroads on the eastern highways through which we are a hub for commerce and relocation. Nothing can highlight that better than the US Army War College and Carlisle Barracks. Every year we are fortunate to have 400 families move into the area and sample all of what Carlisle has to offer. These families come from all over the world and represent the growth of diversity that is flourishing in Carlisle.
Our Chamber gladly welcomes all the new families with our annual “Welcome Bag” initiative sponsored by Navy Federal Credit Union. This member benefit allows all our members to have an item in the welcome bag that is distributed to the incoming families when they arrive on post. It is one way that our members can reach a whole new demographic and illustrate their products and services. We love that we’re able to do this not only to welcome these new families, but to showcase the amazing businesses we have as members.
The impact of Carlisle Barracks is not just an influx of people, but also children into the local school districts, which accepts the more than 400 new students. The War College not only educates and influences our military leaders and national defense, but it has a more than $521 million impact for Pennsylvania and generates more than 2,800 jobs, according to a recent University of Pittsburgh study.
It’s important for our community to embrace those newly arriving families in the summer and make them feel welcomed in our great town. Don’t forget to register your business item for the Welcome Bags by June 28th. You can also register for another opportunity with the Carlisle Barracks MWR 2024 Welcome Expo that happens in August. The Chamber will be there. We hope to see you there too!

It's time to break out your treasure-hunting gear and magnifying glasses to take on this adventure in the Carlisle Area Chamber of Commerce Community Profile and Membership Directory. Every year the Chamber prints it’s Community Profile and Membership Directory for its members as well as for local businesses and inclusion in relocation packets the Chamber sends out.
This year we have a very special Treasure Hunt that allows our members to search through the advertisements in the Directory and answer some very simple questions about the ads. The electronic survey takes a few minutes, and we give some great page hints on where to find the ads within the Directory.
After filling out the short survey, you’re done. Your entered to win a $75 gift card to the member of your choice. This hunt is a great way to know more about the advertising members and their businesses.
A new survey comes out every two weeks or so to cover the entire Directory. This gives you the opportunity to win multiple times. We’re currently finishing up Round 2, but there are more rounds to come. Make sure you’re signed up to receive our email communications so you get the survey in your inbox. Remember, X marks the spot!
Our Annual State of Education Breakfast was held on April 30th at the Carlisle Country Club. With us that day was each of the Superintendents for each of our local area school districts: Carlisle Area (Dr. Colleen Friend), Big Spring (Dr. Nicholas Guarente) , Cumberland Valley (Dr. Mark Blanchard), and South Middleton (Dr. Kevin O’Donnell). We were thankful for each of their presentations highlighting new developments in their districts, as well as main challenges they are seeing within their own respective districts.
This annual event, presented by ChildTime School Age Care, LLC, is always a highlight for our members, as we learn more about how our Chamber community can assist the area schools, as well as their students. We were also appreciative of the supporting sponsors, WellSpan Health, and ESS (Educational Support Staffing).
