Welcome 2024! It’s a new year! Welcome to 2024! We are excited to start this new year with insights into what this year could bring to our Chamber community, as well as to the Carlisle community. Last Fall, we had our members complete a workforce survey to help the Chamber understand the needs of our members, along with general information regarding workforce.

With more than 80 responses, we gleaned valuable information that we can use to better equip our schools so they know what the needs of the business community are, and how they can accommodate with classes, internships, etc.

Amazingly enough, a few of the questions were very interesting. For example, the importance for a college degree was overwhelmingly not needed for most businesses. More than 40% of those surveyed, said that a college degree was not significant for hiring.

Another valuable insight was that internships and job shadowing opportunities are the top two beneficial training opportunities for students that businesses offer. Students who participate in these types of activities are highly desirable for businesses. On another note, the Chamber started the #717BLCCC (Buy Local Carlisle Chamber Challenge), which challenges our community to spend at least $17 at 7 local businesses. Those who complete that challenge can submit their receipts to be entered to win $717 (sponsored by Orrstown Bank) in a gift card to a local member. The Challenge ends on January 8th.
