We want to say thank you to everyone who has impacted our family and our cattle operation. Since the beginning, there have been countless people who have touched our lives and for that we are grateful. Without the blessing of our family, friends, and customers none of this would be a reality. As cattle producers, we have a great responsibility to manage the land and tend to the livestock.

As you know it is a task that can be both rewarding and overwhelming at times. The collection of a sale offering is a result of years of hard work and the fruits of our labor.

We’ve tried to listen to our valued customers over the years. One of the overriding requests has been for more age advantage bulls. This year all the bulls meet that request. We take great pride in the presentation of these bulls. The bulls are toned up, hard muscled, and ready to go to the pasture. They have been developed on wheat pasture, grass in the summer, and limit fed grain ration since December. We believe this bull development program will offer bulls with greater longevity and structural soundness for our customers.

It is our pleasure to welcome you to the 20th Annual Bixler Ranch Bull Sale!

BIG COUNTRY BULLS

these bulls travel 1/4 of a mile just between water and hay. We sacrifice the extra acreage to provide you the structural integrity.

Our customers consistently tell us our bulls hold up better after the sale, through the summer breeding months, and last longer than previous bulls they have bought.

While we believe this is partially a result of decades of extensive AI & ET programs breeding and culling for animals that work for cattlemen, that is only part of the equation. Our bulls are developed in large grass pastures and rarely in a smaller area than 160 acres until right before the sale. Rather than being in a feedlot setting, these bulls consistently travel for feed and water while building muscle tone and athleticism; just like they would when they are turned out to go to work for you. We feel strongly that if these bulls are not over-conditioned, this provides value for you as the buyer to have a bull that is ready to work right away and has the structural integrity to last you many years to come.

Lot 1 is without a doubt the most fault free Red Angus bull we have ever sold. His structure, bold rib, and big hip combined in a package with the kind of presence he carries is rare. Being a PTO out of a daughter of Donor 42B also makes him very closely related to Lot 1 from 2022, our 291 herd bull who has 4 impressive sons in this sale, and 609 who was purchased by McMurphy Farms and sired 3 sale features this year. Everyone talks about coming in first, but when the gavel drops on this bull, you want to be the last bid.

You could watch this dark red hided bull glide around the pasture for days. He's got the style to make some of the most attractive females, the build to suit any commercial breeder, and the structure to cover a lot of cows in rough country. He fits everyone's operation. You decide how you are going to utilize him to add value to your operation.

Lot 3

The 432 cow has been raising sale feature bulls every year. It would be nice to get a replacement female out of her, but it's hard to complain when she raises bulls like this. 291, the sire of Lot 3, is a full brother to Lot 1 from 2022 and 609 purchased by McMurphy Farms. He added the most depth of body we've seen out of the 432 cow with her usual stamp of power on her offspring. If you like them bold centered, powerful, and rugged built with generations of top genetics then you just found your bull.

We keep talking about great cows so here is your proof that the best bulls are produced from the most elite, consistent cows. Lot 4 is out of Donor 120X and had been one of the top bulls of any breed for most of his life. He got sick in the fall so he's behind some of the bulls in terms of growth and condition, but he's quickly catching up. Donor 120X has not only been producing some of our top bulls for many years but also many of our top replacement females. This will be the last son of Donor 120X to ever sell and he could arguably be her best. Don't miss an opportunity to own a genetically superior breeding piece for your operation.

Donor 702 is another daughter of Donor 42B that you will be hearing about often in future years. Travis Pembrook purchased the only female out of Donor 702 to leave this place and she is nearly a full sister to Lot 5. This bull carries all the same attributes of his 291 brothers in a longer fronted package that offers more growth.

There were some elite low birthweight bulls in the 2022 sale, but this bull can take some heat. 5L Independence is the best Red Angus bull we've ever used for calving ease that throws light birthweights calves that can still wean at the top of the calf crop. Lot 6 is a perfect example, and we believe he'll continue to provide that same genetic consistency in your calf crop.

Pounds pay the bills and this bull is ready to do just that for your calf crop.

This is the final of the 291 sons and he might be the combination bull of the entire group. He combines the mass of Lot 3 and the look of Lot 5. He is not a calving ease bull but he will likely carry some lower birthweight genetics from his 132 mother. If you said this was your favorite 291 son, we might not argue with you.

Lot 8

We round out the 2 year old Purebred Red Angus bulls with the only direct son of Donor 42B to sell this year. As you can tell, Donor 42B is not only raising many of our top calves but her offspring are raising some of the best in every calf crop as well. It would be hard to go wrong with buying Lot 9.

A new era of donor cows are making their mark. Donor 806 is the mother of the impressive Lot 3 bull from 2022 who ended up getting hurt and pulled from the sale. This year she is the mother of the Lot 1 and Lot 10 bulls. She just happens to be a daughter of Donor 42B who has raised sale topping bulls for nearly the last decade. Poker Face won his division at multiple national shows for McMurphy Farms and stamped Lot 10 with that same stout, square hip, tight neck, and big belly. Don't wonder what this bull would look like as a 2 year old. Just buy him and find out for yourself.

Woah! We should probably just stop the comments right there, but he's too hard not to talk about. If you have seen a more powerful, square hipped, massive boned, hairy Red Angus bull at 18 months old then we'd like to know where because we need to be breeding to him. This bull is a genetic gem. He is sired by 609 who goes back to Donor 42B and is out of MF Poker Face's full sister. If you want to talk about changing a calf crop in 1 generation, no bull can make a stronger case for that than Lot 11. You need to see this bull in person!

Here is another 609 with a lot of lead in his britches. This 3/4 Red Angus can be mated to a Purebred and make females that show as Purebred, but only considering Red Angus cows might be limiting this bull. Lot 12 can also be mated to club calf cows to make big time haired and slick shear steers or he could be used on commercial cows to add power and pounds to a calf crop. Regardless of how you use him, we feel confident Lot 12 will produce some of the stoutest, highly marketable bulls and females you have raised.

The first calves are hitting the ground out of his full brother and he's making them just as fault free as we had hoped. We used his brother very heavily and have already proven the mating for you. No need to say buy with confidence. Buy with proven knowledge.

Four Generations Strong

rasing good quality show cattle and seedstock since 1897.

The Bixler Ranch was homesteaded in 1897 approximately 6 miles northwest of Waynoka. In 1925, George Bixler purchased his first registered Hereford cows driving them on horseback twenty miles from east of Dacoma. George's son, Ray, continued expanding the registered Hereford herd selling bulls throughout northwest Oklahoma. In 1978, Stan, Ray's son, brought the first black cows into the breeding program starting the use of European breeds to stay in stride with the trends of the cattle industry. Clark, Stan's youngest son, is leaving his mark by continuing the decades of progressive breeding to keep pace with the demands of the cattle industry.

Lot 14 is the first Purebred Simmental bull we have ever offered. He is out of an incredibly elite female who has stamped much of our Simmental program and is the mother of Turning Point. Turning Point sons topped the average of any sire group sold in our 2022 sale so you are familier with his breeding capabilities. Lot 14 is sired by the $205,000 W/C Bankroll. Genetics matter here, but this bull's build could sell you without the genetics. Whether you want to make elite Purebred Simmentals or some of the best half-bloods in the country, we believe this bull adds a tremendous amount of value and will leave an impact for generations to come. If you spend any time looking at Purebred Simmentals, you know you don't come across a Purebred built like this very often.

He is not in quite the same condition as some of the other bulls, but he'll still do the same job as any of the bulls when you turn him out. This Loaded Up Dolly son is ripped! It's not common that you find a 3/4 angus bull with that type of muscle shape, bone, hair, and style. Loaded Up Dolly's mother was the Grand Champion Heifer at OYE in 2014 and his granddam has over $1.5M in progeny sales. Northern Improvement females produce sale highlights for us every year and Lot 17's mother has continued that tradition. Bid to own on this bull.

Lot 18 offers the most growth and chart-topping characteristics of the Loaded Up Dolly sons for the commercial cattleman. What is unique is that with the added frame size, he still maintains incredible depth of body, squareness, and balance. Backed by a good Journey female, this bull offers a variety of ways to use him and is hard to miss in the pen.

Donor 307 raised 2 of the top selling bulls in the last 2 sales. The Pembrook family showed a daughter of her that won her division at numerous national shows. We can't picture every Loaded Up Dolly son so we had to stop somewhere. We've used his half sib, Turn Key, heavily and he produced our top sire group born in the Spring of 2022. Lot 19 has the proven genetics to sire as good of a calf crop as any bull in the sale.

The youngest Loaded up Dolly in the sale is incredibly deep sided and easy fleshing. It's going to be a shame when we don't have any Journey females left because their rate of raising calves that make the cut for the bull sale is unbelievable. This is the type of bull we would like to have sire a whole pasture full of replacement females.

Buy him, give him 6 months to mature, and show your neighbors how smart you were. This is a leadoff quality bull in a younger package. The Coleman Angus program in Montana is known for raising some of top Angus females in the country and this Loaded Up son is backed by those maternal genetics. We're not overrun with baldy bulls this year, but Lot 21 could stand with the best of them any year.

Cocky, long necked, baldy Turning Point son with a set of wheels that say he could chase cows all day in the roughest pasture. He's a little later maturing but he's deep bodied and has the pieces to prove why Turning Point sired the top selling sire group in 2022. This bull does not like to be by himself, which is odd for a Turning Point, but is fine when sorted with other cattle.

Lot 23

Lot 24 is stout hipped and bold centered. He's not as flashy as some of the past Turning Point's, but he's backed by a fancy Purebred Angus mother that we've retained replacement females out of. This is a dual-purpose bull that could fit a program wanting to raise replacement females and bulls or simply wanting to add pounds to a calf crop.

509 is one of our 1/2 blood SimAngus cleanup bulls out of Meant To Be and Donor 0714. Lot 26 is another strong built, rugged made baldy bull that is going to increase the value of your calf crop. He's out of a deep bodied, feminine Wheelman daughter that gives you a great option to retain females or sell heavy calves. You can't go wrong with either choice.

The 805 Insight cow raised one of our top Angus bulls last year that got hurt before we started getting the bulls ready for the sale. He would have been a sale feature last year but thankfully she did it again when she got cleaned up by 509. This younger, baldy 509 son is built very similar to Lot 21 and we believe he could outproduce his sire.

There is nothing to hide with this bull because he is slick as an onion, but he's built so good that he doesn't need hair. He's big backed, exhibits tremendous expression in his rear quarter, and is whistle fronted. He reminds us of his sire, KB 52, but in a black brockle faced package. There are many routes a buyer could go with this bull.

KB 52 stamped this one nearly identical to Lot 28 but solid black and with a little hair. This is a bull that has really come on leading up to the sale and he won't be hard to find in the pen. It's hard to decide who gets pictured and this bull ended up being a little too relaxed to take the best picture. We won't be surprised when you tell us you overlooked this bull in the catalog but picked him out on sale day.

The lone red blaze faced bull of the sale this year and he is stylish. Another slightly younger bull that is going to keep getting better after sale day. He offers the most growth of any KB 52 son in the sale this year. This bull would mate up incredibly to a set of moderate Red Angus cows to add some hybrid vigor, or some low percentage Simmental females, or even Hereford cross cows to make baldies.

Lot 30

SimAngus 22

Lot 31

Stout boned, rugged built red SimAngus bull coming to you in Lot 31. His 734 mother is about as good of a cow as you could draw. If you own a set of Red Angus based cows and you want to add some punch to your calf crop and top the market for red calves, this might be the best option in the sale.

why crossbred cattle?

When crossbreeding as opposed to straightbreeding, there is a 4% increase in number of calves weaned and they wean off at about 5% heavier than straightbred calves under the same management. The increase in numbers of calves born and weaned (4%) when crossbred is due to a greater livability of the crossbred calf as compared to straightbred calves. Greater livability of crossbred calves becomes obvious within the first week to ten days after birth. The crossbred calf, compared to a straightbred, is more hardy and aggressive. They stand, nurse earlier and are more resistant to the calfhood stresses such as chill and scours. Advantages of more aggressiveness also contributes to the increase in weaning weights of crossbred calves. Crossbred calves appear to stimulate the cow more than straightbred calves by more frequent and longer nursing. This leads to an increase in milk flow, which has the net result of heavier weaning weights. ”

* 1% increase in embryo survival to birth vs. straightbred

**6% increase in embryo survival to birth vs. straightbred

Even if your cows are straightbred, just by selecting a bull to be mated to 25 cows for 4 years producing 100 crossbred calves, that bull is worth spending up to $6,900 more than a straightbred bull or a bull that simply weans calves 5% lighter (25 lbs).

Lot 32

There are only 2 Purebred Angus bulls in the sale but they might as well be Rocky fighting Ivan Drago in Russia. They can take punches from the best and keep standing. Lot 32 is the first son to sell from possibly our most succesful Purebred Angus mating to date. Donor 206Z has kicked out countless replacement females and show heifers out of Confidential for years and when we finally got a bull calf he exceeded our expectations. This is the stoutest Confidential son we have ever sold. He hits you with an incredibly attractive front 1/3 that makes it hard to believe a bull with a neck like that can have the spring of rib and depth of body he carries. When you watch him glide around the pen looking as good on the move as he does when he hits you from the profile, you know you're looking at a unique Purebred Angus bull.

It's interesting that the 2 best Confidential sons we have ever sold both came in the same year Then you look at the bottom side of their pedigree and you notice the common denominator is Donor 206Z. The 703 cow is another successful embryo mating from Donor 206Z and Primo. I'm not sure that a bull could hit you with a much better look than Lot 33. You take your pick between the 2 bulls but as long as you take 1 of them home, you can't pick wrong.

Lot 34 is one fancy, hairy, sleep all night, heifer safe bull. Being a calving ease bull and one of the younger bulls in the sale, he needs some extra maturity to look his best. You're buying him to breed your heifers and not worry about them so it only benefits you that his best days are ahead of him. There is not an overabundance of heifer safe bulls in the sale this year so pay attention here.

Lot 36 nearly got pictured for the catalog. The lines on this bull from the top of his poll to his tailhead are as smooth as you could make them. While we aren't calling him heifer safe, he's going to produce light birthweights as well. This is fault free bull that would fit a buyer who doesn't want to worry about calving problems.

Full sib to the impressive Lot 18 from the 2022 sale purchased by Byron Brock. This bull offers more performance for the commercial cowman than his brother and is one of the top growth bulls in the sale. The 1/4th Simmental Lot 37 carries from his mother will make a big difference for you when you see the weights from the final payout on your calves.

Every year there is a bull that the rest of the group picks out and likes to fight. This year it is Lot 38. This was a definite picture lot while the bulls were on 160 acres. When we moved them to the sale facility and he was on 20 acres they fought him enough in the first week where we couldn't picture him. This is a stout built, square made bull that happened into some unfortunate circumstances, but someone is going to get what would have been a feature lot on sale day and really be happy once they turn him out

Another bull that they picked on when they were younger and damaged his ear. That is not a new issue and it does not affect him at all. I'm sure some will not like that so have your bidding hand ready if this good looking baldy starts selling for a little less than others. His mother is a moderate, big bellied, stout made cow that has put multiple bulls in the sale in the past. This is a bull that could work on a variety of different cows and can cover some rough terrain.

This bull isn't big, but what is there is ALL THERE! He's a body builder on 4 legs. He is one of the younger bulls in the sale so he's going to keep growing, but he would be a great option to moderate and power up a set of bigger, flatter made cows of any breed.

The lone Hereford marked bull in the sale this year is sired by the National Champion Polled Hereford bull, High Roller. The top half of this bull's skeleton is impecceable. He's the widest backed Hereford bull we have ever sold. He is fluid in his movement and as usual, he goes back to the great Donor 950 that is one of the highest grossing females we have ever owned. Once again, many options to utilize this bull within or outside of the Hereford breed.

Huge middled, easy keeping baldy bull here in Lot 42. For those of you that like big country cattle, his mother was bred in big, rugged, northern country so this bull should be suited to handle anywhere you put him. Being a full faced baldy, he should help pass that white face on to his offspring on solid cows at a higher rate to help you get that premium for your calf crop.

We've sold some good Charolais bulls in the past, but let's call it like it is: Lot 43 & 44 are in a different league. These bulls are 18 months old and with the power and masculinity to rival the 2 year olds. Lot 43 is rugged, loose made, and is probably the #1 bull in the sale for putting dollars in your pocket through your weaning weights. He is phenomenal on the move and never gives you a bad look. With his level of quality, you could make him any color and he'd still be a standout in that breed. These bulls are extremely docile so you're probabably thinking we're crazy by judging from their picture. Come see them in person and you'll understand why we're so high on them!

As similar as the 2 leadoff Charolais bulls are in quality, they're fairly different in their makeup. Lot 44 is the bull we view as having the potential to add value across many Charolais operations and generate revenue through semen sales. He is stout loined, massive hipped, and bold stifled. Most bulls that bring that type of power to you in the Charolais breed make you sacrifice the look through the front 1/3. This bull gives you the punch from behind all while being tight necked and neat chested. His foot is right, his bone is good, and we love his size. Is he too unique for some? Maybe but who was ever famous for being ordinary?

Lot 45 made his way to this sale on the wrong year, because it's tough to follow Lot 43 & 44. There is nothing wrong with this bull and many years he'd get you excited. He's more traditional in his development as an 18 month old bull still having some maturation ahead of him. For those interested in crossing their cows with Charolais bulls but wanting to be cognizant of the birthweights, you just found a great option. This bull reminds me of one we sold many years ago that the buyer used on good, black cows, weaned heavy calves every year, pulled some better ones off that sold separately for a premium, and lasted for more breeding seasons than most. Nobody can guarantee that is the case here, but that bull had similarities to this one, sold economically, and ended up being a smart purchase.

This bull was so good when he was young that he could have sold for a show steer as a calf, but he's genetically clean so we wanted to keep him for a bull. You don't make them much squarer pinned than Lot 46. He's stout boned, choke throated, and hard muscled. For those of you interested in utilizing him on genetically dirty cows to make show cattle, his breeding is diverse enough to offer you that opportunity. For everyone else that just wants powerful, Charolais colored calves from commercial cows, don't worry about any of that because he still doesn't carry any genetic defects for you either.

Lot 47

If this bull's hips get any wider then you might need a bigger alley. That's a good problem to have because nobody wants to own a skinny, flat made bull. His mother was hands down the deepest bodied, easiest fleshing cow we owned. She bred tons of power, as you can see, and Blue Chip added the performance and look. We like this bull really well for a variety of different breeding programs.

He's sired by a Red Fu Man Chu son from Kris Black and a Purebred Charolais cow so his color gene gives you options to use him on red, white, or black cows.

If you want a calving ease bull with a little extra hybrid vigor, this is a great option. On red cows, a large percentage of your calves will be colored like Red Angus calves, but you will benefit from that extra vigor to help you when they're born and the extra pounds when you wean. Lot 50 is another younger bull that is going to keep getting better after sale day.

He was our first calf born from a Renegade son that Kris Black sold and he really clicked on this cow. His granddam is described as one of the stoutest and best looking Purebred Charolais females to ever be produced in the Hoo Doo program. 815 was one of our favorite bulls from the 2020 sale. You can see why from Lot 52 and we kept multiple females out of him. For those of you looking for genetically clean, red hided, soft made bulls, you will stuggle to find more of an outcross than this. His sire is 7/8 Angus. His grandmother is a cold blooded northern cow. His mother is a Next Level which is still an outcross or quite a ways back in any club calf pedigrees. When you study his pedigree and his structure, this is the bull that most club calf females need. .

Maternal brother to the Lot 51 sale feature from the 2022 sale. This bull is slick shear built and can be a real changer in a cowherd. His mother is a full sib to a Ft. The final 609 son of the sale and he kept the consistency and quality of his 1/2 sibs. This bull is deep bodied, bold ribbed, and thick ended. His BDR mother, Donor 605, has produced multiple elite calves early in her career and his grandmother was a tremendous looking red female. He is another bull with endless breeding opportunities across the industry. Lot 54 may go down as a bull that we need to AI to.

Peppy! And if you call him anything else, Bethany will probably correct you. As a calf, he was so gentle, brave, and curious that Clark & Bethany often woke up in the morning thinking someone was at the front door just to find Peppy walking around on their front porch. He would even let Bethany pet him in the pasture! Peppy's mother is a really good yellow baldy that is a full sister to a previous sale feature purchased by Bode Bond. Peppy is her first calf, born unassisted. His grandmother, Donor 105, was as pretty of a Purebred Charolais cow as you could draw. If you were to have pick of any female of any breed in our herd, it's highly likely that you will land on Lot 57's sister. The interesting thing is that I'm not sure which sister you will pick.
