Beautiful Style Choices for Your Front Door

Written by Expert Contributor Paul Barrett of PB Contracting Company, LLC

You’ve decided that it’s time to change your front entry door because your home is ready for a facelift. The front door is, after all, the first impression people get when seeing or entering your home. Once you start looking at styles online or in catalogs, you realize that there are so many options that it can become quite intimidating and overwhelming. Here are a few styles that are currently trending and will give the front of your home that “wow factor.”

Craftsman-Style Entry Doors Craftsman-style doors are a modern, artsy and cozy option for your home, and look great on all home types. They typically have a clear or decorative glass in a rectangular shape at the top of the door, to allow a moderate amount of natural light in, and then a two-panel design under the glass. Some Craftsmanstyle doors have a dentil shelf to add more character. These doors look great with a wood grain texture and stain, or you can paint the door whatever color you choose. Paired with a full-glass storm door or retractable storm door, this combination looks beautiful.

Full and ¾ Glass Entry Doors For a contemporary or modern look, 3/4 and full glass doors are a great option. They can have a fancy decorative glass or a wrought iron design that immediately draws the eye to the front of your home. The glass options in this style allow you to be creative and fancy with what suits your taste while allowing quite a bit of natural light to shine in. Pair with a full glass storm door for a beautiful, elegant look to the front of your home.

Center Oval Entry Doors Center oval style doors give your home that traditional, welcoming look. Typically, these doors have a decorative, opaque glass that allows natural light into your home. They look great with a grain texture stain or painted your choice of color. Add a full glass or retractable storm door for a finishing touch you will love.

Contemporary Panel Entry Doors with No Glass For a simple yet sophisticated look, this option gives a contemporary but traditional feel to your home. These doors are typically fiberglass, but with a grain texture paired with a stain to give it that beautiful wood look. There are multiple paneling options, and it can be paired with a beautiful knocker or “speakeasy” style grill for a unique, prohibition feel. These doors are typically not paired with a storm door.

Remember: Your front door design gives you the artistic ability to choose a style that sets the tone and impression for your family and guests every time they enter your home.
