With more than 32 years of experience in optometry, Broomall Eye Care is a neighborhood practice that provides relationship-based eye care services including eye exams, treatment and eyeglasses. Since Dr. Michael Allodoli first opened the practice in 2006, he has built trusting relationships with his employees and his patients, who continue coming back year after year.

Before opening up his own practice here in Broomall, Dr. Allodoli worked in the retail eyeglass business, where he performed eye exams and prescribed eyeglasses. Although the job was fast-paced and enjoyable, Dr. Allodoli said what was missing was a personal connection. “One exam would run into another,” he said. “Jumping from one patient to the next didn’t allow much time to get to know any patients.”

Taking a risk, Dr. Allodoli left job security in the retail eyeglass business in 2006 and opened up his own practice in Broomall. What he discovered was that working for himself was much more fulfilling than his previous jobs.

In my own practice, everything is much more personal," he said. "When patients come back, they get to see me again, year after year.

After growing up in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia, Dr. Allodoli graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He then went on to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry where he received his Master’s degree in Biology, and became a Doctor of Optometry in 1988.

While working in the retail eyeglass industry, Dr. Allodoli met his wife Lisa, at his company’s Christmas party. Introduced by a coworker who happened to be Lisa’s sister, the two hit it off and eventually married.

The Allodolis settled in Marple and had two sons, Gianmichael and Robert. “I was already familiar with Broomall before moving here, and I loved the neighborhood,” said Dr. Allodoli. “We loved raising our children here, getting to know other families, and being part of a great community.” Their oldest son Gianmichael currently works as an HVAC technician, and Robert is in his second year at Delaware County Community College where he is studying Computer Science.

Since 2006, Dr. Allodoli has been able to grow his practice right here in his hometown.

Watching my business develop in the same town where we raised our children made the opportunity even more fulfilling and enjoyable,” said Dr. Allodoli. "And not only is walking to work a perk, so is that personal connection to my patients because of working and living in the same community.

Dr. Allodoli said he’s especially grateful for his patients’ support during the COVID-19 pandemic. Back in March, 2020, the office remained open but only for emergency visits and for filling orders for glasses and contacts. Although his staff had to be laid off for a few months, he was able to bring all of them back to the office by Memorial Day 2020. And the patients who had put off routine visits began to return.

I really appreciate the support of my patients and staff," Dr. Allodoli said. "They were very patient as we adapted to the many changes last year.
