If you’re fortunate enough to be neighbors with The Boon Family, then you’ve probably enjoyed their holiday light displays, borrowed a book from their Little Free Library, or been the recipient of one of Kristina Boon’s delicious cupcakes. Since moving into their Broomall home in 2012, Kristina and Brent Boon and their two children have helped make their neighborhood feel like one big family.
Kristina grew up in Broomall, with her parents and her younger brother Raymond. She attended Russell Elementary school where her mom June was a familiar and friendly face in the front office for many years. As a young girl, Kristina was a cheerleader for the Marple Junior Tigers, and was also very artistic and creative. After graduating from Marple Newtown High School in 2004, she went on to Cosmetology School at Jean Madeline Aveda Institute in Philadelphia. Before putting her career on hold to raise her children, she worked for many years as a local hair stylist.
Brent grew up in Norwood with his parents, a brother Jody and a sister Kerri, all of whom still live nearby in Delaware County. In 2005, Brent graduated from Interboro High School, where he was active in sports inside and out of school, including basketball, golf and track and field. For the past 14 years, he has worked for Coca Cola delivery in Philadelphia. “Customer service is a big deal in this industry,” said Brent. “I truly enjoy the relationships I’ve built with my customers over the years.”

Kristina and Brent met in 2008, through mutual friends. Kristina said their meeting was “at the right place, at the right time!” Their 2010 wedding at St. Anastasia’s was followed by a unique reception at Citizens Bank Park. Growing up, Brent and his family were huge Phillies fans and his dad worked for the Phillies’ organization for 40 years. “I was really lucky to attend a lot of games with Brent,” Kristina said, “even playoff games that led to the World Series! It was so much fun and a great way to get to know him and his family.” So, when it came time to pick a place for their wedding reception, Citizens Bank Park seemed like the perfect fit for the couple. Guests enjoyed cocktails in the Hall of Fame Club followed by dinner in the Diamond Club. After the wedding, Brent and Kristina took off for a relaxing fun honeymoon adventure in Jamaica.
After they were married and before finding their own home in Broomall, Brent and Kristina lived with her parents June and Mark, while they took time to find a house nearby. “Living in Broomall my whole life showed me a great sense of community along with the best public schools for children to attend,” said Kristina. “It wasn’t too hard to convince Brent to move here after he was lucky enough to watch my younger brother grow up in the same community.” On New Year’s Eve 2012 they moved into their perfect home, near the Marple Public Library and close to Kristina’s parents. “We went to see the home as soon as it was listed, and the second we walked in, we knew it was our home!” she added.
Kristina and Brent have two children, Corrine and Colin, and a long-haired cat named Carl. Seven-year-old Corrine is a kind and loving 1st-grader whose favorite subject in school is Math. She loves being with her friends, and takes tap and ballet classes at a local dance studio. When she’s not at school or dancing, she loves playing at the many playgrounds in Broomall.

Corrine’s younger brother Colin is a happy and silly 2-year-old who gets to be home with mom. His favorite things to do are digging in the garden and pretending to be a fireman, farmer or trashman. Even at this young age, his parents say he’s got a loving personality like his big sister.
The Boons are big Disney fans and have already taken three trips to Walt Disney World. Although they weren't able to get there last year, they’re already planning another trip as soon as they can. Thankfully, in 2020, they were able to enjoy a family vacation to Wildwood Crest, an annual tradition.

In their spare time, Kristina and Brent are both very creative. With more free time at home during the pandemic, Brent built a porch swing that his family likes to enjoy on nice evenings. Kristina is known around town as a fabulous baker who likes to surprise and treat her friends and neighbors with her delicious cupcakes. “Whether it’s a special occasion or simply a playdate with friends, I like to surprise people with a treat.” Sundays are for family dinners that Kristina says gives her a fresh start to the week. Their family also makes it a habit to donate homemade casseroles to St. John’s Hospice through the St. Anastasia’s outreach program.
The Boons are certain they have “the best neighbors in town”! Sandwiched between two related families who have lived in Broomall their whole lives has their block feeling like one big family.
In 2019, Kristina and Brent added a Little Free Library to their front yard, where anyone can take a book or leave a book.

This past holiday season, they combined efforts with their next-door neighbors, to create a beautiful holiday display that included a lit-up archway. “We knew the 2020 holidays were going to be a little different,” said Brent, “ so we thought we’d do a little extra to get people in the holiday spirit.”
It’s these kinds of thoughtful gestures and connections that make Marple lucky to have The Boon Family as friends and neighbors!
