JUNE STUDENT OF THE MONTH

The June Student of the Month is Eoghan Waychunas, an 8th-grader at St. Anastasia School. Eoghan received a Certificate of Achievement in recognition of Excellence in Service to his school, his peers and the community.

Eoghan is an avid sportsman, taking part in St. Annie’s Varsity Football, Basketball and Track & Field teams. In fact, Eoghan’s Varsity football team, the Spartans, won the CYO Championships this past season. Even when he’s not at one of his games or meets, you can usually find him in the yard or down the street, throwing around a football or playing basketball with his dad or his friends.

Eoghan really enjoys school and particularly loves science and math. He has aspirations to become an Engineer when he’s older. For now, he’s really looking forward to attending 9th grade at Marple Newtown High School in the fall. Besides the incredible reputation and opportunities available at MNHS, it couldn’t be in a more convenient location: the school is literally across the street from his home.

Recently, the always-enterprising Eoghan started his first job as a Caddy at the Overbrook Country Club. His parents couldn’t be more proud of him but not just for accomplishments: Eoghan is also a truly spiritual young man with a caring soul. Often seen riding his bike in the neighborhood, he has been found to pedal up to the small chapel at St. Annie’s, just to chat with God.

He’s also always been a tremendous help to his neighbors, whether they need their sidewalk cleared of snow or help with other miscellaneous yard work. Eoghan has a kind heart, as seen in his outreach at school as part of the Prayer Partners group, where the upper grades help out with the younger kids, whether it’s help in school, with prayer or even just walking home from school.

Eoghan, your Marple Newtown Friends & Neighbors congratulate you on winning this well-deserved award, and for always being there to help others. We wish you well in high school, and may you accomplish all your hopes, dreams and goals!
