t was the Worst of Pines. It was the Best of Pines. None of us will soon forget 2020, a year that upended all our lives. And yet, for all the struggles, we’ve all shown amazing resilience, adjusting our lives to fit the times. That, too, is ever so true of The Pilot’s annual Best of the Pines celebration. As the pandemic settled over us in March, we feared having to scrap this year’s installment. But knowing how popular this annual feature is, we — and you! — found a way to make it work. You responded in an historic way. How 2020 of you. This year, we had 22 percent more voters from last year — almost 24,000 — and 20,000 more total votes, a number that fell two votes shy of 237,000! This year’s Best of the Pines added more categories — now 192 — and we even added a few to reflect the coronavirus pandemic. Who won Best Quarantine Pivot? Best Curbside Service? Best in Show overall? Read on. Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners, not only for the awards, but for trucking through the worst of times with service and a smile.
