Every year, people start searching for ways to get a “summer body” — usually meaning quick fixes and unrealistic targets. The truth is, feeling strong and confident isn’t something you build in six weeks. It comes from habits that support your body all year round.
Here are 10 tips that work for summer, and beyond.
1. Find Your Why. A refresher from January! Before you begin, get crystal clear on your ‘why’. This will keep you on track. Do you want to have more energy, lose fat, feel stronger?
2. Move More. Walking, gardening, carrying
shopping, and taking the stairs all add up. Movement doesn’t only happen in the gym.
3. Train for Everyday Life. Working with a mix of weights, bands and bodyweight makes daily tasks easier.
4. Build Muscle. We all lose muscle and bone density as we age but we need this for long-term health.
5. Improve Mobility. Stretching and balance work are also important to stay mobile and pain-free.
6. Eat Well. Focus on balanced meals with protein, vegetables, and energy to support your

activity levels. Thinking of foods as ‘good or bad’ can impact our relationship with eating – change the focus to be on healthy choices.
7. Prioritise Sleep. Recovery matters. Better sleep has many benefits and will improve energy and your mood.
8. Be Consistent. Plan regular sessions across the week and have backup options at home if you can’t make it to a class.
9. Skip the Quick Fixes. As tempting as they seem, ditch the quick fix. Sustainable habits are what create lasting change.
The focus isn’t a temporary “summer body.” It’s a body that supports your life, gives you confidence, and keeps you strong for years to come.
That’s the approach at JaneyHFit — helping you build strength that lasts.

Well, June has finally arrived — which means we has officially entered that wonderful time of year when nobody knows whether to wear sunglasses, carry an umbrella, or both at the same time.

June also marks the return of outdoor life. There will be fêtes, tea mornings, cricket matches, plant sales, and at least one occasion where somebody says, “Ooh, it’s too hot for me,” roughly ten minutes before putting on a cardigan because the
Gardens are now competing fiercely for the title of “Most Likely to Take Over the Pavement,” while lawnmowers can be heard humming across the village every weekend from approximately 8am onwards. The birds are singing, the bees are buzzing, and someone nearby is almost certainly burning sausages on a barbecue.

clouds came over.

Of course, with the lighter evenings comes the annual belief that we suddenly have endless time to get jobs done. Sheds will be “sorted out,” weeds will be “dealt with properly,” and garden projects started last summer may finally move into their second year of completion.
Still, there’s something rather lovely about June in the village. T

Wherever this month takes you, we hope it brings plenty of sunshine, laughter, and perhaps at least one successful barbecue. Happy June everyone!
