Brackley Town moves into December in good heart after an excellent start to the season followed by FA Sup success The Saints have maintained a top five place in the league so far after last season’s third placed finish. The FA Cup run brought plenty of local, not to say, national media attention following wins against Boston united, Gresley and Barrow took the Saints into the first round proper of the world-famed FA Cup for only the second time in the club’s long history. A trip to League One Gillingham was the club’s reward and on 9 November, with TV cameras on hand, Saints drew with the Gills at their Priestfield Stadium to earn a replay here in Brackley. Leading until added time it was partly the nature of Gillingham’s equaliser that caught the media attention, dramatically coming in the 97th minute to

dash Saints’ hopes and break some hearts. Several hundred supporters travelled to the game and the fans were singled out by the manager and players for their vocal and enthusiastic support.

During the cup run the battle was on to keep players focused on league action and the experienced management team of Jon Brady and Darren Collins achieved the goal.

Saints look ahead now to a back-log of league fixtures that brings midweek trips and some challenging games if they are to stay in and around the top placings.

How To Make your Home Super Christmassy Not everyone wants to be that person who transforms the outside of their home into Blackpool Illuminations for two months every year.

Especially in such economic times, it is hardly the most sensible of ideas. Everyone does, however, need a boost, and each year Christmas provides the perfect excuse to be full of joy. Regardless of budget, there are plenty of ways to bring Christmas into your homes this year.

Festive Foliage and Homemade Decorations Bearing in mind what we have just mentioned about the economic state of the UK, it is useful to find ways to decorate your home without breaking that budget. Well over half the money spent on fuel bills goes towards providing heating and hot water in a typical UK household.

So in these times of ever-increasing costs, having an efficient and cost-effective heating system is vital - and it's one of the main steps you can take to reduce your carbon dioxide emissions.

Most boilers run on mains gas but in areas where it's not available, the boiler can run on oil, tank gas, coal or wood. Mains gas is usually the cheapest and has the lowest carbon emissions, apart from wood. Some boilers also have an electric immersion heater as a back-up.

Gas and oil boilers may be combination (combi) boilers, in which case they heat the hot water as it is needed and don't need to store it. Otherwise, the boiler heats up water and stores it in a cylinder that feeds the taps.

If you have this systems, the Trust advises a number of energy-saving options: * Replace your boiler with a newer, more efficient model * Fit better controls for your space and water heating - and use them to make sure your boiler only provides heat when you want it * Switch to a cheaper or lower carbon fuel or technology * Make any insulation and draught-proofing improvements that you can * Use chemical inhibitors if you have an older system
