I am a Holistic Therapist, Reflexologist, Workshop Leader, Reiki Master Teacher, Stress Management Tutor, Counsellor, Sleep Therapist, Speaker, Author, Advanced Angel Therapist and an Interfaith Minister.

I love the flexibility of having my own space where clients can relax and enjoy their treatments in comfort, without having to worry about feeding the meter or having to book their appointments between 9am and 5pm. The clinic has the flexibility to be a cosy treatment room for one to one therapies like Reflexology, Reiki, Non-Surgical Face Lift Massage or for One to One Counselling sessions, Talking Therapies, NLP and Angel Therapies, then in the evenings it is ideal for small group sessions, teaching Reiki or Stress Management, Relaxation Meditations, Angel Workshops or Sleep Therapy. I am always looking for ways of adding to the therapies that I can offer my clients, giving them a comprehensive holistic experience that will add a special something to their treatment. We live in such a stressful society and era, that more and more people are looking to complementary therapies to release some of the pressure that slows down the enjoyment of life. When a new client comes for a treatment they often don’t really know what they want but they know they need

something; it may be that they just felt that they needed to come for a treat, or that a friend has suggested they come, perhaps for a pampering or relaxation treatment.

With each new therapy client, I conduct a full holistic consultation looking at different areas of the client’s life, medical history, sleep, diet, stress, family; anything that may have a contributing factor to the wellbeing of the client. This may take anywhere between 10 to 40 mins, depending on the issues discussed. It is often at this point that the decision is made as to what would be the most helpful therapy to have. I will often combine treatments, if appropriate, to best help the client’s needs. A large part of my work is in counselling, on a One to One basis, or Couples Counselling. It is so rewarding seeing someone blossom as they regain their self worth, self esteem and self confidence.

Traumas can happen at any age; many clients come to me feeling so lost that we need to rebuild the foundations of their lives again, making sure that they are better able to cope with the stresses and strains of the world around them.

I feel very blessed to be able to help people find themselves again.

Brackley European Association We flew, we shot, we wined and dined, we fraternised - in fact we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This was the weekend when members of the Brackley European Association visited Montabaur in Germany for our bi-annual twinning visit. And what a splendid weekend it was.

German Wings deposited us at Koln airport (we flew) and a coach delivered us into the welcoming hands of our various hosts in Montabaur. Saturday morning was spent browsing the stalls of the annual Schustermarkt in the lovely medieval town centre and in the afternoon, we gathered at the Shooting Club for a rifle shooting competition (we shot). This was won by a German lady who was hosting for the first time and entertaining a couple who have themselves only moved into Brackley in recent years – the enthusiasm for twinning is obviously alive and well in both communities. On Sunday, we visited the historic town of Mainz in the morning and in

Page 20

the afternoon, had a very scenic, if somewhat bumpy and inebriating tractor ride around a vineyard overlooking the Rhine (we wined and dined).

So once again it was brought home to us that whilst our two nations have a different cultural heritage, speak a different language and have different customs, spending time together in a welcoming, friendly, hospitable environment, means that these differences no longer divide us but instead enrich and enhance our lives and our mutual understanding (we fraternised). A small step perhaps, towards a united, peaceful, generous world but it is surely from such small steps that one day, great strides may be achieved. So come and join us.

Fireworks Fun The wonderful fireworks display hosted annually by the 5th Brackley Scouts takes place on Saturday 3rd November on the St. John’s site of Magdalen College School.

Gates open at 6pm for a 7.30pm start.

Entry is £5 for adults and £2 for children – please do pay to enter rather than view from outside the grounds as it is the admission fees that allow this fabulous community event to take place each year. A BBQ and refreshments will be available during the evening.

you follow these simple safety rules: Think ahead – is your garden big enough for a fireworks display? Do you really need a bonfire?

Buy fireworks marked BS 7114.

Keep fireworks in a closed box.

Plan ahead. Make sure you have enough room to get clear and have a bucket of water handy for emergencies. Don’t wear loose clothing that can easily catch alight.

Don’t drink alcohol until after the display.

Follow the instructions on each firework.

Light fireworks at arm’s length using a taper the stand well back.

Never go back to a lit firework.

Never put fireworks in your pocket.

Never throw fireworks (it’s illegal to do so).

Keep pets indoors.

Keep a close watch on children at any display and make sure they are aware of the dangers. Sparklers need careful handling – the holder should wear gloves and hold the sparkler at arm’s length. A spent sparkler should be put into water.

Check your smoke alarm If you don’t have a working smoke alarm, you are more than twice as likely to die in a fire in your home. National surveys indicate that the hedgehog population of England and Wales has dropped by almost 50% over the past 25 years. As a consequence, the hedgehog is now a UK Priority Species and conservation measures are being put in place.

Brackley Hogwatch and Rehabilitation Centre aims to help reverse the decline of the hedgehog population and is calling upon the Brackley community to lend a hand. During the Autumn months, small hedgehogs must be rescued if they are to survive the winter period. Even if the animal appears to be healthy, if it weighs less than 600g, it may not have sufficient fat reserves to survive hibernation.

Brackley Hogwatch urges local residents to look out for small hedgehogs that may be visiting domestic gardens. Please pick up the hedgehog using old gloves or a towel and place in a tall box. Weigh the hedgehog using kitchen or postage scales. If the hedgehog weighs less than 600g, please contact Brackley Hogwatch urgently.

The journey continues

Brackley Town’s first ever season in the Conference North has proved already to be both memorable and momentous for the club and supporters alike. A sequence of 8 straight wins caused a stir around the leagues with the BBC running a nice piece highlighting that Northamptonshire’s Brackley Town was the only league club in the top 7 divisions of English football with a 100% winning record. This saw manager Jon Brady collect his second successive Blue Square Bet Conference North Manager of the Month award – a deserved accolade for a young manager.

The team’s fine run of form continued with a draw away at the seaside of Colwyn Bay before another home win against Histon saw Saints firmly entrenched in top spot in the league table.

An FA Cup exit and a heavy defeat away in North Yorkshire at Harrogate brought everybody back down to earth and as this goes to press it remains to be seen how the side pick themselves up and do battle with some big teams including former league side Halifax Town.

Home attendances have been boosted by the top billing and a healthy away following has been building. Coaches travel to most away games

November brings Stalybridge Celtic to Brackley on 17 November kick-off 3pm. Ticket prices remain at £10 for adults, £5 for senior citizens and under-16 enjoy free entry at most games.

November also sees Brackley’s entry into the FA Trophy competition.

An especially big game to look out for is the visit of Chester on 8 December. As both sides are competing near the top of the table it is expected that this ex-league club will bring several coaches of supporters to the game. The club is working with the police to ensure this influx of visitors experience the hospitality of Brackley and everyone will enjoy their day.
