Back in 2008, BerryAlloc was the first company to introduce water-resistant laminate to the market with its innovative hydro+ technology. This unique formulation has indisputably proven its durability, quality, and value for money after years of exposure to daily situations.

How does it work?

A hydrophobic coating is applied to all sides of the plank, effectively repelling water when it comes into contact with the joints. Applied during manufacturing, the Ocean+ collection is completely water resistant when it leaves the production line.

Did you know that certain colours can influence your mood and productivity? A well-balanced colour scheme will not only elevate the look and feel of any interior, but can also contribute to general well-being. And the shade you pick for a floor can make a huge difference.

The colour character works in both ways: if you’ve already decided on a floor, you can use it to determine the colour of your walls in your interior project. Already got a specific colour scheme in mind? Choose a floor based on that.

Here are some basic explanations and ground rules that you can easily implement to create a well-balanced interior.

Colour character

Although the colour of any floor may seem fairly obvious at first sight, there’s a whole layer of subtle undertones that’ll determine which colours work best with that particular floor – something that is especially apparent in natural wood designs. This underlying shade is the colour character of a floor These are the resulting colour groups:

Contrasting colours

Using contrasting colours means using colours that are directly opposite to the floor’s colour character on the chromatic colour wheel.

If the floor has a yellow character, offset it with purple elements in your interior, or vice versa. The same goes for orange and blue, or red and green.

Harmonious colours

Using harmonious colours means using colours that are either the same colour as the floor’s colour character; or its neighbouring colour on the colour wheel.

If the floor has a yellow character, this means using variations of yellow, green, and orange in your interior. If it has a blue character, this means using variations of blue, green, and purple, and so on.

We share the French love for quality: all our parquet products are made with love in France. The wood is locally sourced from fully regulated PEFC™-certified forests.

We spend most of our time indoors, yet the air we breathe in our homes is sometimes more polluted than the air outside. And that’s not OK. Our products are designed to contribute to an optimal indoor air quality so that you can relax at home without worrying. And there’s more. The materials used in our products are phthalate-free, 100% REACH compliant, and the vast majority of our products hold an A+ ranking for Indoor Air Quality.

What are VOCs?

Volatile organic chemical compounds are a type of chemicals that are commonly present in products used in and around our homes and tend to vaporise into the atmosphere. Unfortunately, some chemicals in VOCs may have short and long-term adverse health effects, and are especially sensitive for individuals suffering from allergies, asthma, or experiencing thyroid issues. It is our goal to reduce the amount of VOCs in our products as much as possible.

VOCs can be found in all sorts of products used to build and maintain your home or commercial space: from cleaning supplies to air fresheners, to paint and varnishes, and yes, even your floors.

At BerryAlloc, we realise that VOC concentrations are consistently higher indoors, even though they are present everywhere you go. As your well-being is our highest priority, we avoid using materials that could cause any harm. We measure and verify the level of VOCs in our products through an externally accredited lab and comply with some of the strictest VOC regulations across several countries (requirements can differ depending on the focus of a particular regulation).

Choosing a wooden floor means bringing nature into your home in both looks and materials. A wooden BerryAlloc floor also means you’re supporting responsibly sourced materials that help preserve nature. All our wood is sourced from sustainably managed forests and nearly all are PEFC™-certified.

BerryAlloc are sourced from sustainably managed forests. Our PEFC™ certification proves that we meet the strictest environmental, social, and economic requirements for our wood. This means that the timber used for the production of our products:

Our wood selection is always top-tier. All so that you can enjoy your naturally beautiful floor longer, without compromising on either quality or design. Our products carry a lifetime warranty for residential buildings, and a 10-year warranty for commercial buildings.

Wood recycling

To help achieve our goal of reducing the use of virgin materials, we continuously explore new ways to increase recycled content in our products, and we aim to further develop this in the future. The top layer of our high pressure floors range, for instance, consists of 30% recycled paper.

There are also small amounts of recycled paper present in our DPL (deep pressure laminate).

Wood dust: waste or valuable resource?

Our Menen, Meaulne, and Lyngdal production sites produce wood-based flooring (parquet, laminate, and high pressure floors). As a result, we create significant amounts of saw and milling dust as a by-product. But there’s no way we would let that go to waste.

At our Menen site, the sawdust is used externally as an energy resource. In our Lyngdal and Meaulne sites, the sawdust is used both as an energy resource for the factories themselves, as well as one for the local community and neighbouring production sites.

When it comes to material selection, we always choose top-tier materials. All so that you can enjoy your naturally beautiful floor longer, without compromising on either quality or design. Our products carry a lifetime warranty for residential buildings, and a 10-year warranty for commercial buildings.

Using less material

We aim to use as little material as possible in our products without compromising on quality. If we don’t need to use new resources, we won’t. That’s why we use 30% less material in our vinyl planks & tiles than most competitors. And that also brings an extra advantage to the table. The reduced product weight makes installation easier and lowers our overall environmental impact: during the procurement of raw materials, during production and transport to your store and home. Win-win!

Recycled materials

To help achieve our goal of using fewer virgin materials, we continuously explore new ways to increase recycled content in our products, especially for the product core. And we’ve already made great progress: our vinyl planks & tiles boards consist of almost 50% recycled content.

We’re also trying to reduce waste within the production sites too. It happens from time to time that raw materials, such as wood boards, aren’t fit for production. Since we want to maintain our high quality standards, we prefer not to use these materials. In the example of the wood boards, we work together with local sheltered employment to resize these and re-use them to protect our planks during product shipment.

What does this mean to you?

The A+ label demonstrates that the amount of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) produced by our products is among the lowest and that all indoor air quality standards are met in full.

The FloorScore Indoor Air Quality Certification means that our products are independently certified to comply with the strict VOC emissions criteria of California, USA.

M1

This Finnish classification presents emission requirements for building materials, fixtures, and furniture used in office and residential buildings concerning good indoor air quality. M1 is the highest score possible.

PEFC™
