Update from Mayor Wortmann This week I heard the wonderful news of the successful grant for the Talgarno Recreation Reserve development. The news could not have come at a better time and I congratulate all involved in the 2019 Masterplan and grant submission. Talgarno Recreation Reserve Committee of Management, together with Council, have been successful in its application for a $212,000 grant through the Victorian Government’s Local Sport and Infrastructure Fund. Unfortunately our community continues to be challenged by COVID-19 and the border closure. Together with my fellow Councillors and Council staff, we have continued to advocate to the NSW Government. The border zone is having a detrimental impact on the Peninsula community, where the social and economic implications will be long
lasting. We are grateful for the ongoing support from both Victorian and NSW Cross-border Commissioners. Some relief this week as the NSW Government improved border restrictions for Agriculture workers. While this is welcomed news, there is a long way to go to ease the pressures that our communities are facing everyday by the imposed border zone. Almost 90% of border businesses have been impacted by the closure, which simply cannot continue. To force things to change, this week we have:
