Tailor-made for your applications – the modular foot switch concept from Bernstein!

Bernstein offers a wide range of foot switches to meet the exacting requirements found in industrial applications. With up to three pedals, with or without a safety cover (UN), the robust all-metal housing ensures a protection class of IP 65 as standard.

The modular design gives you the possibility of defining application-dependent pedal functions with up to four contact combinations per pedal.

Additional contact combinations and pedal functions, combined with basic housings and switching elements open up further control and operation variants. Complete units are also available for use in the explosion-protected area II 2G EEx d IIC T6 and the medical sector.

Features

Latched switching Y After the first pedal actuation, the contact setting is maintained after the pedal is released. Only after a subsequent actuation is the contact reset again (bistable).

Safety Guard (UN) Additional to protecting the pedal, the rear of the guard provides further space to accommodate additional elements: – Emergency Stop button – Contactor on DIN rail (as main power switch) – Customer-specific fittings

Pressure point D – Depression to the pressure point: First pair of contacts switched – Depression beyond the pressure point: Second pair of contacts switched (first contacts remain switched)

Pedal 1

Pedal interlock (AT) The pedal can only be depressed after the vertical lever is disengaged with the foot.

This prevents unintentional actuation of the footswitch.

Emergency Stop button (NA) Since the foot switch can be operated at some distance from machines and plant, an Emergency Stop button conforming to VDE/DIN is directly available to the operator on the command unit.

1NC/1NO change-over with potentiometer

An integrated potentiometer allows linear control tasks to be performed via a controller, dependant on the pedal position.

A micro-switch is also activated, providing electrical isolation at the rest or end position (facility exists for a further micro-switch to duplicate this function).

Example

Safety foot switch with safety locking and manual disengagement 1. Rest 2. Operation: Pedal pressed as far as the pressure point: the make contacts are closed, the machine is started.

3. Emergency situation: The pedal is depressed beyond the resistance of the pressure point, the NC contact is interrupted and latched, (machine is stopped). Even when the pedal is released the contact is latched and remains in the off position. This reliably prevents an uncontrolled restart of the moving machine parts.

4. Disengagement: After the hazardous situation has been remedied, manual disengagement (pushbutton on the side of the housing) releases the contacts; the machine can then be initiated again by pressing the pedal as in pos. 2.
