If there’s one fort that truly brings Bermuda’s past to life, it’s Fort St. Catherine. Packed with historic exhibits, artifacts, and a well preserved interior, this stone built fort houses a museum and is one of Bermudas most impressive structures and in the old artillery store there is an exhibit of the fort’s development over four centuries. Other Forts worth adding on to this visit are Gates Fort and Alexandra Battery located within walking distance. Getting here: From Kings Square take Duke of York Street, take a left at Somers Super Market towards Duke of Kent Street. Keep going and you will reach Tobacco Bay. Fort St. Catherine is a 5 minute walk East from there
Martello Tower
St. Georgeʼs With its distinctive egg shape, moat, and drawbridge, the Martello Tower in Ferry Reach looks like something straight out of a fairy tale. Built in 1823 with walls up to 11 feet thick, it sits atop a hill overlooking Whale Bone Bay. While the tower itself is viewable from the outside only, the surrounding walk through Ferry Reach Park and along the Railway Trail is a highlight. Getting there: Best reached by scooter or car; combine it with a coastal walk for a scenic outing.

St. Georgeʼs Small but beautifully positioned, Gates Fort stands guard at the eastern entrance to St. George’s Harbour. Originally built in the early 1600s, the fort offers sweeping views across Town Cut, where cruise ships and yachts enter the island. Its peaceful setting and dramatic coastal scenery make it a worthwhile stop alongside Fort St. Catherine. Getting here: A short 5-minute walk east from Fort St. Catherine along Barry Road.
