Scaur Hill Fort & Park
Sandys Parish This fort was built to defend the Royal Naval Dockyard against the Americans during the War of 1812. Then in the 1940s, American guns defended the fort during WWII. While exploring, look for the deep gun pits and galleries which go deep into the hillside. The ramparts offer spectacular views of Ely’s Harbour and the Great Sound. The Keep Royal Naval Dockyard
Once the fortified citadel of the Royal Naval Dockyard, The Keep is Bermuda’s largest fort and today is home to the National Museum of Bermuda. Explore its massive stone ramparts, bastions and former ammunition storehouses, then climb to Commissioner’s House for spectacular views across Dockyard and the surrounding waters. Allow plenty of time — the Museum’s exhibits tell fascinating stories from more than 500 years of Bermuda history. Getting here: Bus 7 or 8 to Royal Naval Dockyard; ferries also operate between Hamilton and Dockyard.

Royal Naval Dockyard Built in the 1820s to help protect the Royal Naval Dockyard, Fort Victoria wapart of Bermuda’s extensive network of coastal defences. Named for Queen Victoria, the fort once housed heavy guns positioned to guard the approaches to Dockyard. Today, its historic remains offer another glimpse into the West End’s important military past. Getting here: Located in the Royal Naval Dockyard; accessible by bus 7 or 8, ferry from Hamilton, or on foot while exploring Dockyard.
