Who Needs H&R Block When We Have Nadia Milleron?
NADIA MILLERON Gas prices keep going up. Grocery prices are out of sight. And costs for services like health insurance, car insurance, home insurance and health care are skyrocketing. In western Massachusetts, a family of four needs a household income of over $75,000 just to get by. And yet Congress has done nothing. I will. I’m proposing no federal income taxes for all Americans making under $100,000 a year. That’s right. No federal income taxes on individuals or families making under $100,000 a year. Illuminate Your Property After Dark
Spotlights: Spotlights are among the more popular landscape lighting options. Spotlights are used by fans of uplighting, which places the light beneath a particular feature and then aims light upward to draw attention to it. Many homeowners utilize spotlights and uplighting to illuminate statues and trees. Step lights: Step lights help to make moving around a property at night more safe. Step lights are installed on the vertical face of the step or along the sides of each step. Homeowners who have a deck may find step lights particularly useful, especially if the

Landscape lighting has been growing in popularity, and industry experts anticipate that growth will continue for years to come. According to the market research firm Technavio, the market size for outdoor landscape lighting is estimated to grow by nearly $133 million between 2024 and 2028. That growth is evident in data sheets, but it's also visible to the naked eye, as more and more property owners are utilizing outdoor landscape lighting to increase security and draw attention to their lawns and various features on them. Homeowners considering adding landscape lighting to their properties may be overwhelmed by the options at their disposal. Indeed, there are many ways for homeowners to accentuate landscape features and create a stunning nighttime look. The following rundown of landscape lighting options can illuminate the many different ways homeowners can use light to make their properties more appealing at night.

deck is multi-level and/or attached to a staircase that leads down into a yard. Flood lights: Flood lights are a type of spotlight that are generally used to illuminate large areas, such as a driveway or a deck. Flood lights illuminate from above, so these typically are best for lighting up manmade portions of a home's exterior rather than natural features like trees or gardens. Garden lights: Garden lights direct light downward toward a garden. These provide a soft light that can draw attention to plants at dusk and throughout the night. Many homeowners like the sense of serenity garden lights help to create during twilight and evening hours. Path lights: Similar to step lights, path lights typically are installed as a safety feature. But path lights still boast aesthetic appeal, as they help to light up walkways and driveways without providing a burst of light that can feel overwhelming for residents and visitors. Path lights come in a variety of styles and sizes, so homeowners can experiment with their options to find the one that best suits their needs. Ground lighting: Ground lighting is like recessed lighting inside a home, only these lights are placed in the ground and send light upward rather than downward from a ceiling. Ground lighting fixtures are often installed in gardens, directing light upward toward shrubs or trees. Homeowners can illuminate their home exteriors in numerous ways, each of which can add to a property's aesthetic appeal at night. OL257973

ANTIQUE ALLEY a Vintage Finds A guide to Antique Dealers and Vintage Finds from Pittsfield to Sheffield along scenic Route 7 in Massachusetts
Finding Art with a Story There is a particular pleasure in encountering art outside the traditional gallery setting. A painting glimpsed in an antique shop, a carved figure found at an estate sale, or a stack of old prints discovered at a vintage market can offer the same sense of intrigue as a gallery exhibition—but with an element of surprise. That is part of what makes the search for antiques and vintage finds so rewarding. You rarely know what you will encounter, and the most memorable discoveries are often the ones you were not looking for. Art has always been part of the world of collecting. Paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, photography, folk art, and decorative objects all reflect the creative traditions of their time. Some were created by recognized artists; others were made by talented craftspeople whose names may have been lost to history. Their value can vary enormously, but each can offer a glimpse into the aesthetic, culture, and craftsmanship of another era. For the curious collector, that history is often as compelling as the object itself. A signature can lead to an artist. A frame can provide a clue about age. The subject matter, materials, technique, or even the wear on a piece can reveal something about where it has been and how it was used. Research can transform an intriguing object into a fascinating one, giving context to what might initially appear to be simply beautiful. That sense of discovery is at the heart of collecting. Unlike shopping for something newly produced, searching for vintage and antique art is inherently unpredictable. There may be only one example of a particular work, and it may appear in a place you would never expect. A small watercolor tucked among framed prints, an unusual piece of pottery on a crowded shelf, or a striking piece of folk art at a country auction can suddenly capture your attention.
And sometimes, the most satisfying finds are not the most valuable. Collectors often develop an appreciation for artists and periods that reflect their own interests. One person may be drawn to nineteenth-century landscapes; another to modernist prints, regional folk art, or the simplicity of early American ceramics. Over time, a collection can become a record of curiosity—a visual expression of the subjects, places, and ideas that have captured the collector’s imagination. The process also encourages looking closely. In a world filled with quickly produced images and objects, antique and vintage art rewards patience. The texture of an old painting, the marks left by a maker’s hand, the subtle variations in a ceramic surface, or the imperfections that reveal an object’s age can all become part of its appeal. There is also something democratic about the hunt. You do not need to be an established collector or an art expert to participate. Knowledge helps, but curiosity may be even more important. Ask questions. Look carefully. Learn the stories behind the pieces. Talk with dealers and other collectors. And, above all, give yourself permission to be surprised. That is the enduring appeal of Antiques Alley & Vintage Finds: the possibility that somewhere along the way, you will encounter something that stops you in your tracks. You may not know its story when you first see it. But discovering that story—and deciding whether the piece belongs in your own collection—is where the real adventure begins.
