Stay Active, Stay Healthy Regular physical activity is often associated with immediate effects, and rightfully so. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, physical activity can improve cognition and thinking, reduce short-term feelings of anxiety, and make it easier for people to manage their weight. But physical activity also boasts some notable long-term benefits, particularly in regard to disease prevention. The CDC notes that regular exercise can reduce risk for cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome, infectious diseases like COVID-19 and pneumonia, and various forms of cancer, including cancers of the breast, colon, kidneys, and lungs. Pizza is widely enjoyed food all over the world. Modern pizza is believed to have originated in Italy, and was derived from similar flatbread dishes in Naples between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries. Today, pizza is enjoyed daily in different countries across the globe, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person who hasn't enjoyed a slice of pizza at some point. Dig into these eye-opening facts about pizza. • $50 billion: Statista reports that the pizza industry in the United States is a major economic force, exceeding $50 billion in market value. • 3 billion: This is the number of pizzas that Americans consume annually. • 61 percent: The percentage of people in the U.S. who prefer thin crust
pizza, according to Craig Priebe's The United States of Pizza. • 39 percent: The percentage of Americans who consider pepperoni their favorite pizza topping. Top days: The biggest days for pizza sales, include Super Bowl Sunday, New Year's Eve, Halloween, Thanksgiving Eve, and New Year's Day. • 8 to 12 minutes: The average number of minutes it takes thin crust pizza to cook at 475 F. • 285: This is the number of calories in a typical slice of pizza cut from a 14-inch pizza with regular crust. • 12: Pizza may be a lot of carbohydrates, but it also has protein. The average slice of cheese pizza has around 12 grams of protein. TF25A254

MAY 2026
Grateful for a Wonderful Experience We wanted to write to tell you about the experiences we had working with your team. While it would be easy to say you all did a great job, it would not adequately cover all the many interactions we had, and people we worked with, on our renovation journey. From our initial meetings and conversations to the “boots on the ground” crew and support staff, we were constantly impressed by the professionalism and skill everyone brought to the project. The scope of the project, which ran from a total bathroom tear-down and reno to a complete kitchen remodel, was significant. Everything they did was highly detailed and perfectly executed. Everyone did a great job communicating with us. This helped to level-set daily and weekly expectations around project progress, which we found very helpful. We found that even when there were supply chain challenges or other “timing” issues that slightly affected the job, the communication you provided to us helped us to feel informed and comfortable that things were moving along and you were dogging it all on our behalf. We were also equally impressed by the relationship you have with your subcontractors. They were excellent to deal with, and their work was superb as well. The Morrison’s team has a lot to be proud of, dedicated, professional, considerate staff who understand and appreciate that homeowners are feeling challenged as their homes are being updated. Thank you for making our home improvement journey one that we are proud of and will love for years to come. You made it possible for us, and we continue to be grateful for your many talents. With warmest regards, Rick & Lisa Gaudet, Pittsfield, MA

How to Tell When Your Brakes Need Replacing Each component of a vehicle performs an important function that ensures the car runs safely and soundly. A working brake system is vital to vehicle safety, so any issues affecting the brakes merit attention. Fortunately, there are various warning signs that indicate to vehicle owners it is time to replace brakes.

Grinding sound: A deep grinding metal sound indicates that brakes are wearing down. Brake pads typically come equipped with tiny metal ridges on the bottom of the pads to alert the driver that the pads have worn down. Continuing to drive like this will put metal on metal, which can damage the rotors. Squealing sound: Some brake pads have built-in wear indicators. A driver may notice a squealing, screeching or whining noise when the brakes are engaged, says Bridgestone. Grinding or squealing often indicates that the brakes need to be replaced. Pulling to one side: When braking, drivers might notice the car pulling over to one side. This indicates brake
pads are unevenly worn out, causing the car to pull to one side when braking. Visible wear and tear: A visual inspection of the brakes can give drivers an idea of their condition. If the pads are less than a quarterinch thick, it is time to have them inspected or replaced. Brake pedal vibration: When brakes are working properly, the vehicle will smoothly slow to a stop. If the brakes are worn out or if the rotors are damaged, the break pedal can vibrate and the car may even buck as it comes to a stop. This means the brakes and possibly the rotors will need to be changed. Failure to stop: Of course, a clear indication that it could be time to replace the brakes is if the car does not respond promptly to braking when the brake pedal is pressed. A soft brake pedal or longer stop times might mean brake fluid is low or may indicate the need for a brake replacement. Various signs may indicate it is time to replace a vehicle's brakes. SC253686

Why Fall Is a Prime Time for Roof Replacement A roof is a vital component of a home that protects the structure from the elements and ensures that sun, rain, wind, and snow do not compromise the integrity of interior spaces. The average asphalt shingle roof found on many homes lasts between 15 and 30 years. Alternative roofing materials, such as metal or clay tiles, can last much longer. Homeowners who stay in a home for many years will likely need to replace a roof at some point. Choosing when to replace the roof may come down to selecting the right season. Experts typically consider fall the prime time to upgrade a roof for a variety of reasons. Moderate temperatures: Fall weather tends to be comfortable in many regions of
the country. Fall temperatures are better suited for roofing and allow materials to work the best. When temperatures are too hot, shingles can become soft and prone to scuffing, while cold temperatures can make materials brittle and difficult to seal. Comfort for workers: The same moderate conditions can make it easier for roofing contractors to get the work done. It can be extremely hot on a roof during summer, necessitating frequent breaks for workers. Winter weather conditions are not ideal for working on a roof, with snow and ice making things slippery. Fall weather can help workers feel more comfortable.
Avoid the rush: Spring and early summer are peak seasons for roofing contractors due to post-winter repairs. Homeowners may experience shorter wait times, better pricing and flexible scheduling if they opt for a fall roof replacement. Prepare for winter: Getting a roof in the fall means having a new and functional barrier against winter storms that can be hard on old roofs. It also means the roof will be ready for rainy, spring weather. Fall is an ideal time to replace a roof for many reasons. Homeowners can use the summer to vet various roofing contractors and come up with a package that fits their schedules and budgets. FH269070
