Lyme Protection Made Simple
413.394.4014 915 PLEASANT ST, LEE MA, 01238
hearthandhoundlee.com The American Veterinary Medical Association notes that the Lyme disease vaccine is not right for every dog. The AVMA notes that between 5 and 10 percent of dogs infected with Lyme disease develop signs of illness, but thousands of cases are still reported each year. Many dogs are sufficiently protected against Lyme disease by tick-prevention products recommended by veterinarians, who can help dog owners pick the right products for their pets. During these discussions, pet owners can inquire about the Lyme disease
vaccine. The AVMA notes that veterinarians consider a range of variables before recommending the vaccine or suggesting a pet does not need it. Such factors include location, as dogs that live and spend time outdoors in areas with high tick populations may be prime candidates for vaccination. The pet’s lifestyle, including how much time it spends outdoors in grassy areas, and overall health will also be considered as veterinarians attempt to determine if the dog needs a Lyme disease vaccination. From the warm crackle of a needle touching a record to the oversized artwork that made every album a visual experience, vintage vinyl LPs continue to captivate collectors, music lovers, and antique enthusiasts alike. Once considered outdated, these classic records have experienced a remarkable resurgence, earning a place in antique shops, flea markets, record stores, and estate sales across the country. For many collectors, vinyl offers more than music—it offers history. Every LP tells a story, reflecting the artists, recording techniques, and cultural trends of its time. Album covers became works of art in their own right, featuring memorable photography, illustrations, and graphic design that captured the spirit of each era. Collectors often search for first pressings, limited editions, colored vinyl, promotional releases, and albums that remain in exceptional condition. Original inserts, lyric sheets, posters, and intact sleeves can add to both a record’s appeal and value. While certain rare releases command impressive prices, many vintage LPs remain surprisingly affordable, making record collecting an enjoyable hobby for newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts alike. Genres are as varied as the collectors themselves. Classic rock, jazz, blues, folk, country, soul, big band, classical, and early rhythm and blues all have devoted followings. Local recordings and regional artists can be

especially intriguing, offering a glimpse into a community’s musical heritage that may not be found anywhere else. Condition plays an important role in collecting. Buyers typically examine both the record and its jacket, looking for minimal scratches, clean labels, and well-preserved covers. Many sellers use standard grading systems that help collectors understand what to expect before making a purchase. Beyond collecting, vintage LPs have become a favorite choice for music lovers seeking a richer listening experience. Many enthusiasts appreciate the warmth and depth of analog sound, along with the ritual of placing a record on the turntable and listening to an album from beginning to end as the artist intended. Exploring antique stores, vintage markets, and record fairs often leads to unexpected discoveries. A forgotten album tucked into a crate may spark memories of childhood, introduce listeners to a new favorite artist, or become the missing piece of a carefully built collection. The thrill of the hunt is part of what keeps collectors coming back. Whether displayed on a shelf, carefully preserved in protective sleeves, or enjoyed on a vintage turntable, antique and vintage vinyl LPs continue to connect generations through music, art, and nostalgia. In today’s digital world, these timeless records offer a handson experience that celebrates craftsmanship, storytelling, and the enduring magic of recorded sound. For collectors and casual listeners alike, every record has the potential to become a treasured find—and perhaps the soundtrack to a new memory.

haddadauto.com Consumers increasingly are turning to electric vehicles (EVs) because of their perceived benefits to the environment and additional perks. The United States Environmental Protection Agency says EVs typically have smaller carbon footprints than gasoline cars, even when accounting for the electricity used for charging. In addition, EVs can be more efficient in regard to energy use. However, it is important to note that mining the materials that are used in the batteries required for EVs can make the EV manufacturing process more energy-intensive than making internal
combustion energy vehicles (ICE), according to Earth.org. The Internetwork for Sustainability says EVs and hybrid cars emit more carbon dioxide than traditional cars during production. The additional environmental cost of transporting these batteries also results in a higher carbon footprint than ICE vehicles. However, the EPA points out that the greenhouse gas emissions associated with an EV over its lifetime are typically lower than those from an ICE vehicle, even when accounting for manufacturing.
