elcoming the new year in at Berkeley Hall, we celebrate the beauty of our Lowcountry setting in what has become a Berkeley Experience tradition, as Elizabeth Angelone, member/photographer captures exquisite views of our wildlife and nature. Elizabeth’s work casts an intimate view of our “local life.” Immersed in the Lowcountry’s rhythms, she’s often photographing in the very hours when all is still. “I love when the sun comes up and all is magical. Here at Berkeley Hall, we get a lot of those kinds of mornings.” She finds many of our friends at home among the waters, foliage and native marsh grasses. As the ever-changing hues of nature form her palette, she brings this world into view for the rest of us.

“The Barbizon” by Paulina Bren From award-winning author Paulina Bren comes the captivating portrait of New York’s most famous residential hotel - The Barbizon - and the remarkable women who lived there. Liberated from home and hearth by World War I and ready to work, women arrived to take their place in the dazzling new skyscrapers of Manhattan. Built in 1927, at the height of the Roaring Twenties, the Barbizon Hotel was a luxurious safe haven for the modern woman.
