Tournament Format
Tournament Format
Flighted 18-Hole stoke play event playing a format of Two Best Balls of Four...or More.
The Overall Champions will be the team with the lowest 18-Hole Net Score.
Gross and Net Prizes will be awarded in each flight.
In the event of a tie for the Overall Champion, a scorecard playoff will determine the winning team. The scorecard playoff will take the following order - Back 9, Last 6, Last 3, Hole by Hole from 18 backwards.
The field will be divided into three flights, which will be arranged by the aggregate total of the team’s handicaps
Handicaps
Handicap Index as at the Closing Date of March 12th will be used.
Handicaps will be adjusted to 85%.
Handicaps will be verified by the committee.
Tournament Format
Tees
The tournament tees will be the White Tee. The Rule of 75 is in effect - if your age plus your handicap is 75 or more, you are eligible to move to a forward set of tees (Fazio or Green). Please see a member of the Professional Staff prior to the event if you would like to play from a different set of tees and we will adjust your handicap accordingly. If you do choose to move up a set of tees you will be excluded from the gross prizes.
Scorecards
Scorecards for the round will be provided prior to teeing off. The scorecards will be marked with the individual handicaps as they have been previously certified by the Committee. All scorecards must be signed, attested and turned in at the scoreboard immediately following your round. Strokes will be marked where they fall on the 18-hole card.
Score Posting
Please note the Berkeley Hall Professional Staff will be posting the Tournament Scores for each competitor under the direction of the Club’s Handicap Committee. We are requiring scorecards to be returned complete, signed and attested for posting purposes. Incomplete scorecards will have Decision 5-2a/5 applied for posting purposes.
Rules of Play
USGA Rules shall govern all play and the following Local Rules shall apply:
• On holes #10 & #14 The Sandy areas to the right of the fairways are waste areas and are to be played as the general area.
• Immovable Obstructions: In addition to rule 15.2, if a ball lies off the putting green but not in a penalty area and an immovable obstruction on or within two club lengths of the putting green and within two club lengths of the ball intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may take relief as follows:
• The ball must be lifted and dropped at the nearest point to where the ball lay that (a) Is not nearer the hole, (b) avoids intervention and (c) is not in a penalty area or on a putting green. The ball may be cleaned when lifted.
• Newly Sodded & Sanded Areas: Relief must be taken from all newly sodded or sanded areas. Please proceed under rule 16.1.
• Staked Trees: Protection of young trees is identified by stakes and rope. If such a tree interferes with a player’s stance or the area of their intended swing, the ball must be lifted, without penalty and dropped in accordance with procedure prescribed in 16.1 (Immovable Obstruction)
• Embedded Ball Rule: Rule 16.3 provides relief without penalty for a ball embedded in its own pitch-mark in the general area.
• Ball Must be Played as it lies.
• Out Of Bounds: Defined by white stakes / posts.
• Yellow Penalty Area: Defined by yellow stakes / lines.
• Red Penalty Area: Defined by red stakes / lines.
• Doubt as to Procedure:
In stroke play, if a competitor is doubtful of his rights or the correct procedure during the play of a hole, he may, without penalty, complete the hole with two balls. Rule 20.1c.
