Tournament Format

The field will be divided into flights, which will be arranged by the aggregate total of the team’s handicaps. If two teams have the same total index, the player with the lowest index breaks the tie.

Each round will consist of 18 holes of Strokeplay

First Round ~ 1 Best Ball on Hole #1, 2 Best Balls on Hole #2, 3 Best Balls on Hole #3 (repeat)

Second Round ~ 1 Best Ball on Par 5’s, 2 Best Balls on Par 4’s, 3 Best Balls on Par 3’s

The tournament tees will be the White Tee. The Rule of 75 is in effect - if your age plus your handicap is 75 or more, you are eligible to move to a forward set of tees (Fazio or Green). Please see a member of the Professional Staff if you would like to play from a different set of tees and we will adjust your handicap accordingly. In the event that a player decides to move to a forward set of tees, that team will not be eligible for any gross prizes.

Handicaps

Handicaps will be taken from the tournament closing date - November 20th. USGA Recommended 85% will be used for all rounds.

Tournament Format

Scorecards

Scorecards for each round will be provided prior to teeing off. The scorecards will be marked with the individual handicaps as they have been previously certified by the Committee. All scorecards must be signed, attested and turned in at the scoreboard immediately following your round. Strokes will be marked where they fall on the 18-hole card.

Score Posting

Please note the Berkeley Hall Professional Staff will be posting the Tournament Scores for each competitor under the direction of the Club’s Handicap Committee. We are requiring scorecards to be returned complete, signed and attested for posting purposes. Incomplete scorecards will have Net Par applied to holes not completed.

Starting Times

For each round, we will indicate your respective starting time & hole. It becomes necessary for us to ask you to be considerate of all the participants and arrive to your respective tee 10 minutes before your scheduled tee time and to keep pace with the group in front of you. This will help ensure an enjoyable time for all.

Optional Cash Buy-In

The Official tournament cash buy-in may be entered by paying $400/team prior to teeing off on Friday morning. Thursday’s Practice Round Tournament will be an additional $100/team.

Tournament Prizes

The Overall Champion will be the team with the lowest NET 36 Hole score

There will be a Gross and a Net Champion from each flight, and there will be a Net Runner Up in each flight

In the event of a tie, a match of cards will break all ties based on the USGA recommended procedure. Ties will be decided by final round score, then back 9, last 6, last 3, hole by hole.

Optional Cash Buy In

Each team may enter the buy-in upon paying ($400 CASH per team) and must do so prior to play Friday. There will be cash prizes awarded for daily and overall winners in each division as well as closest to the hole competitions, and gross and net skins.

Rules of Play

USGA Rules shall govern all play and the following Local Rules shall apply:

• Holes #10 & 14 (South) Waste Areas: Sandy areas to the right of #10 and #14 are not a penalty area and are to be played as the general area .

• On hole #4 (North) the margin of the red penalty area will be defined by the edge of the cart path nearest the penalty area. In addition to the option prescribed in rule 17.1, ball drops have been provided as an option if the player chooses. Please use the drop area that would be the closest to the spot the ball last crossed the margin of the penalty area no nearer the hole.

• On Hole #15 (North) In addition to the options prescribed in Rule 16.1 for relief from the cart path that runs through the fairway, drop zones have been provided as an additional option. Players must use the drop zone that is closest to where their ball lays and not nearer to the hole.

• Immovable Obstructions: In addition to rule 16.1, if a ball lies off the putting green but not in a penalty area and an immovable obstruction on or within two club lengths of the putting green and within two club lengths of the ball intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may take relief as follows: The ball must be lifted and dropped at the nearest point to where the ball lay that (a) Is not nearer the hole, (b) avoids intervention and (c) is not in a penalty area or on a putting green. The ball may be cleaned when lifted.

• Newly sodded & sanded areas: Relief must be taken from all newly sodded or sanded areas. Please proceed under rule 16.1.

• Staked Trees: Protection of young trees is identified by stakes and rope. If such a tree interferes with a players stance or the area of his intended swing, the ball must be lifted, without penalty and dropped in accordance with the procedure prescribed in Rule 16.1a (Immovable Obstruction)

• Out Of Bounds: Defined by white stakes / posts.

• Yellow Penalty Area: Defined by yellow stakes / lines.
