Just forty-five minutes outside of Waco, in the quaint town of Groesbeck, TX, you’ll find some of the most advanced gaming systems the market has to offer. Neurothon, a family game room, gives customers the chance to interface with high-end PC and console games, arcade games, and VR equipment.

Valerie and David McDaniel have always worked with children, and when they visited a game room in another city, they knew they had to open their own. They loved the idea of bringing kids and their families together through cooperative play with video games and “old-school” entertainment like arcade games and a pool table.

“We’re a social environment,” David said. “We want the kids laughing and talking and playing together.”

The game room offers consoles like the Xbox, Playstation, and Nintendo Switch, as well as PCs with high-speed, fiber internet for Esports.

“We also have arcade machines that have thousands of games on each machine, as well as Pac-Man and the old Mortal Kombat game,” he said.

Visiting Neurothon also gives customers the chance to experience the VR room that includes high-end equipment and driving simulators.

Because the game room has all ages in mind, the owners have also included a padded toddler zone for kids two and younger that has a train table and other toddler-appropriate toys.

There’s something for everyone at Neurothon, which means it’s a great place to have a birthday party. For less than $200, you can get two hours of play time for 20 people and access to a party room that can be decorated with your theme in mind.

“I also take pictures and videos during the parties and create a video based on the party’s theme,” David said.

Neurothon is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 12 a.m.

Friday and Saturday night. During football season, you can also catch a game on one of Neurothon’s big screens and enjoy a snack from the snack bar. The game room offers sodas, coffee, chips and candy.

The McDaniels want Neurothon to be a place where families can enjoy each other’s company and kids can gain some skills and confidence.

“When parents come in and they’ve got a child who is kind of bouncing around everywhere, we direct the child to sit down and develop that focus by learning to play a game and master the game,” David said. “Hopefully, that experience will help them go on to bigger and better things,” For more information about Neurothon and its offerings, visit their website at www.neurothon.net or their Facebok page @Neurothon, or stop by their location at 404 Dr. J.B.
